I play mostly traditional flamenco guitar, with a few bossa nova, classical, and "other" tunes thrown in. I started playing flamenco guitar six or seven years ago. A friend of mine, a dealer at an antique mall where I was working, knew something about flamenco and got me started. About 30 years ago, when he was working as an engineer and running a health food store, all his friends were going to Spain, living with gypsies, learning flamenco guitar and dance. They would come home and teach him things. He forgot a lot (he says I would cry if I knew how much), but he has taught me some beautiful falsetas I haven't found anywhere else, and guided me in the sound and feeling appropriate to the music.I've been playing out in the San Diego area for the last two years, at restaurants and cafes, and at many private events, playing at birthday parties, funerals, holiday parties..., and entertaining at other events from tennis club barbecues to corporate parties and charity and school events.
