WHAT'S OLD IS WHAT'S NEW!While walking south on Havemeyer, sandwiched between buzz-cut barbershops, arepas and chicharrones, you can find country-filled charm in a teacup of a boutique called Sweet Virginia. At Sweet Virginia, clothes hang from tree branches and seafoam-colored walls are adorned with buy-it-off-the-wall wooden framed pics of endearing characters from lions to ballerinas. Appealing to local "trendy girls whose style is part modern-Brooklyn, part Grand Ole Opry" (-New York Magazine), Sweet Virginia is the place to find one-of-a-kind clothing!Often certain vintage clothing, overlooked due to their antiquated look, are left to wither. All the pieces in Sweet Virginia are individually selected and then properly cleaned, cared for and repaired (if damaged). The next step, refashioning, begins by assessing each garment's strength, taking it apart, and sewing it together again using machines in the design room. The refashioning can be as simple as shortening hemlines to more complex as transforming a shirt into a skirt or a dress.address:164 Havemeyer St (btw South 2nd & 3rd), Williamsburg, Brooklyn
