CACOPHONY

About Me

Just when you think you've heard everything the harsh noize movement could offer, along comes a new being willing to challenge all the conventions of this electronic genre. Cacophony is what the definition of noize in the dictionary should be. Both violent and rhythmic, while still maintaining a sense of melody. Taking inspiration from other electronic genres such as IDM and gabber, cacophony's sound takes the best of them, puts them in a blender along with hints of industrial and power noize, and comes up with a whole new sound that challenges everything you've heard before.

Behold, MK-34179 was on a routine mission from its home plant of Mercury to Saturn to pick up supplies when its ship collided with one of NASAs puny earth satellites and crashed in the jungles of Central America. MK-34179 began sending out sonic transmissions for a rescue ship and noticed that earth children wearing big boots began dancing to them. Unfortunately the home planet de-prioritized its mission until 2013. MK-34179 is now left on earth entertaining others with sounds.

Cacophony is the side project of solo artist Vaclav , who has maintained a more or less consistent presence in Southern California's industrial and electronic scenes for the past decade, first appearing with the industrial black metal outfit Lathander in 1997. Since Lathander's break up in 1999, Vaclav has performed as a solo artist, performing IDM shows with his laptop and promoting Los Angeles/west coast-area IDM events with such performers as Venetian Snares and Hrvatski as well as running Nentech , his own independent record label. His remix of Cyrusrex appeared alongside electronic greats such as Venetian Snares and cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy for the Negative3 label. Recently Cacophony toured the US alongside Los Angeles noise act W.A.S.T.E. and played the Kinetic Chicago Noise festival for the Sistinas label. Cacophony has remixed industrial acts Phantom West and C/A/T/ . As well as remixed Carl Douglas: Kung Fu Fighting for the Mechanismz label.

Sounds Like: "Transmissions is at once futuristic and primitive, the dance music equivalent of downing two dozen shots of espresso and then playing Asteroids until the caffeine wears off, leaving you with an aching head and a weird sense of satisfaction."
- Regen Magazine

"I can definitely see the appeal in Cacophony as he picks Power Noise and freely adds elements from various other genres and influences - like gabber, breakcore and computer games - avoiding the stereotypical formulas in this genre, and doesn't seem afraid of kicking things up a notche, which is to be commended."

Who or what is MK-34179, and what is this entity's connection to the music of Cacophony? Vaclav: MK-34179 is an alien being, neither male nor female, from Mercury. It is a messenger unit, and MK-3417...

Literally intended as "transmissions," the nine tracks of Cacophony's debut album are supposedly the attempts of a crash-landed extraterrestrial to communicate with earthlings. Judging from the sounds...
