About Me

I began studying Classical Guitar at the age of 8 with composer/guitarist Nigel Morgan until I was 18, and then with concert guitarist Paul Gregory until age 21 (whilst at Sussex University gaining a degree in Electronics!). I enjoy playing classical, jazz rock and blues guitar (I studied blues guitar with Matt Schofield at the International Guitar Festival in Bath in 2006) but it was when I first heard the acoustic playing of Eric Roche in 2005 that I really became interested in solo acoustic fingerstyle guitar. At around the same time I tried out a Taylor 714CE guitar in a music shop and realised that, unlike my previous acoustic, the neck and string spacing allowed me to make use of much of my classical guitar technique and so began my journey into the world of steel string fingerstyle guitar. In addition to the Taylor guitar, I now own a beautiful Lowden O32, which I mainly play in DADGAD tuning. I have recently performed at the Cambridge Folk Club, and regularly play at the monthly 'Histon Unplugged' sessions.I recently attended a fascinating workshop with Clive Carroll and had an amazing time at a week long acoustic guitar summer school in Austria in 2007, run by the excellent Thomas Leeb with Stuart Ryan and Gottfried Gfrerer.
