Otherwise, I just love to have a good friggin' time!
Anybody who has a brain and a decent amount of humor and wit! Cool folks who are geeky at the same time, and if there are some hot single men out there, that'd be nice too! But in the end, this is all in fun and I am sure that whoever I run into will prove to be interesting experiences in themselves! Oh and if you are WENTWORTH MILLER, JASON MRAZ, MICHAEL VARTAN, BENJI SCHWIMMER or DANE COOK (respectively), CALL ME!!!....I would like to impregnante YOU with MY babies!
ANYTHING BUT hardcore rap and country. PLEASE spare me from that crap...I have proof that it's crap:
*country* + *rap* = CRAP
[Got that from a T-Shirt @ Hot Topic. Love it!]
I like the underground or not-so mainstream stuff...Talib Kweli, a bit of Kanye, Common for sure, Cee-Lo, J-5, Dilated Peoples, Danger Doom...so on and so forth. Add in a bit of pop, R&B, soul -- both old and new. Preferably the old is what gets me going! Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire and even Michael...when he was black and sane, of course. Then there is the random crap like Jason Mraz and KT Tunstall. The list goes on for a while.
But please...no 50 Cent or anything like that. I will hurt you.

These are some friends of mine. Check 'em out...and you'd better like them!!!
Under The Tuscan Sun, The Truth About Cats & Dogs, Napolean Dynamite, The Color Purple, Saved!, Forrest Gump; I also love a lot of independent & foreign films, such as Obre Les Ojos (Open Your Eyes), Like Water For Chocolate, Stealing Beauty and a few others. Anime is fun to watch too.
I don't watch much TV. I think that everytime I look in the direction of a television screen, my IQ drops a few points. But when I do watch TV, I try to make up for it by enjoying The Learning Channel, History Channel (when there isn't anything about WWII on), Court TV, Discovery and Nat'l Geographic....I think you get the point. I also enjoy a few movies and some anime. And, of course, my loves, Law & Order SVU and CSI -- Las Vegas...y'know the original one? None of that off-shoot crap! I only catch those shows because of DVR. I can catch up after not watching T.V. for a month! Can any one say 'marathon'??? That DVR is a Godsend!
Yes, I am a nerd. Deal with it.
The Love Spell, by Phyllis Curott; Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston. This book was way ahead of its time and is a compelling story! And she was the inspiration for another one of my favorite authors, Alice Walker, who wrote "The Color Purple".
Right on, Zora. Right on.
*The Divine...however it manifests.
*Anyone who seeks truth in their own way no matter what others say about them.
*My Daddy...for loving my Momma and all that came with her, including myself. For encouraging me and listening to me. For believing in me and giving me his wisdom whenever I ask (and even when I don't!). For being the Father I thought I'd never have. Love ya, Daddy!
*My Momma...If I can be half the woman she is, I think that I will be set for five lifetimes. I love you, Momma!
*My best friend, Stephanie -- my future (if at all!) Maid of Honor! Beautiful, delightfully nerdy and my twin soul! I love you, Big Sibba!
*Lady Di...she was royalty, yet one of the most down-to-earth and wonderful people to have ever walked this planet. A true princess, indeed.
*A few famous strong and classy Black Women:
- Gabrielle Union
- Angela Basset
- Queen Latifah
- Tina Turner
- Maya Angelou
- Halle Berry
- Dorothy Dandrige
(For those wondering why I didn't pick Oprah, it's because I am just not a fan of hers. She freaks me out and honestly, to me, she seems a little fake. Just my opinion -- sorry if you don't like it.)
*I am also strongly inspired by Josephine Baker. Not only is she from East St. Louis (I still claim her even though she is from the other side of the river!), but she broke a lot of taboos and blazed a lot of trails for black entertainers and black women in general. The coolest thing she did, though, was get a chateau in France and adopted kids from all over the world, calling them her "Rainbow Tribe". That is the poopey, right there!
"Surely the day will come when color means nothing more than the skin tone, when religion is seen uniquely as a way to speak one's soul; when birth places have the weight of a throw of the dice and all men are born free, when understanding breeds love and brotherhood." - Josephine Baker
