Founded and fronted by Northwest Harmonica Champion, Hank Shreve; The Odd Souls are hot new band who bring a lot of energy and some damn fine blues to the stage. Some have described their sound as Chicago/Texas Blues with a Rock edge to it. Who are these people you ask?
Hank Shreve
Hank started playing harmonica at age 8. Born into a musical family, Hank looks to his parents as his greatest idols. Hank's playing has been described as "Aggressive bluesy tone with a bit of a Jazz flavor to it." Hank is an Eagle Scout and is currently attending Lane Community College studying Music Technology and Jazz Percussion.
Ben Rice
Ben and his band, "The Youth Of Blues" has been an up-and-coming young blues band for the past several years. "Ben is the most versatile guitarist I know. He can play literally anything," Hank says. Be sure to check out Ben Rice and The Youth Of Blues, one of Oregon's top blues/rock bands!
Joshua Soran
"Josh has the sexiest tone I've ever heard! Nothin' but soul" Hank says. Apart from being an extremely talented Jazz/Blues saxophonist, Josh is very educated in Classical music too. He is currently playing in the LCC Jazz Ensemble as well as the symphonic band. Josh also has a really hot Jazz trio called the Joshua Soran Trio.
Mike Sanders
Mike began playing bass guitar just 3 years ago. "Mike is one of the funkiest bassists I've ever played with. He listens so well" Hank describes. Although Mike is fairly fresh at the bass, you would swear he'd been playing since the get-go! Mike also is an accomplished pianist, percussionist, and drummer.
Merlin Showalter
"The flashiest drummer I've ever shared the stage with. You never know what's comin' next!" Hank says. Merlin plays with nothing but style and charisma. Some say that the drum-set is the easiest instrument; after hearing Merlin play, you will think twice about thinking that silly statement. Apart from The Odd Souls, you catch Merlin with the awesome Alternative-Jam Band, Greenlander.
