I'm an old man, luthier (steel strings instruments maker), restorer, inlayer, american guitars expert, columnist (1978-2000), consultant, musician, guitarist, drummer, graphic, designer, illustrator, lover of the Arts and the Artists.I was born in Rome, Italy, when Allied Armies with Free Italians and Resistance was coming in URBE, after the end of WWII, in Via C. Battisti, in the same building where was living (little boy) Paolo Frajese, future anchorman, speaker and correspondent for "RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana".
A little after, aging two years, my Family move at last floor over "Bar Castellino" in Piazza Venezia, where we remain three years circa.
Aging 2nd,3rd,4th and first months of the 5th year, I was living, alternate mornings, at Zoo of Rome, Italy, in the cage of a small chimpanzee of the same age of me, named Georgetto, gift of a US AIR FORCE Captain at roman Zoo.
We was eating bananas, peanuts, oranges: same foods at breakfast, and sometimes at launch...
Georgetto recognized me 20 years later, into many visitors.
Aging 13 years old, I was playing a nylon stringed guitar. Aging 15 I have my first electric semiacoustic guitar: a german Hofner Verythin, top of the line, where I put a Bigsby B6 Vibrato almost immediately, playing "professionally", plugging into a SUPRO AMP by friend Toscano...
In 1961 I have my first Gibson GA40 Les Paul amplifier!
During first 60s I was playing with my first band: "The Sparrows", summarizing the styles of Mario Cenci (Peppino di Capri band), Peter Van Wood and Raf Montrasio (Renato Carosone's band) for italian songs, and the styles of Al Bruno, Duane Eddy, Eddie Cochran, Del Norris (The Champs), James Burton, Sanford Clark and Bruce Welch for the rhythm guitar, Hank B. Marvin for soloist, for rock'n'roll angloamerican songs. Bruce Welch and Hank B.Marvin was The Shadows british first mythical band, with Cliff Richard too.
In the 60s I was playing almost identical :) to Duane Eddy, Conway Twitty, Al Bruno, Grady Martin, Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch, Eddie Cochran, Mario Cenci (Peppino di Capri), The Ramrods, The Fendermen, etc.
In 1963 I bought my first sunburst Gibson ES 335 TD, and immediately I put on a Bigsby B6 too ;) : fantastic guitar with magic sound.
One of the best moments of my life.:-).
I was using and abusing during about ten years.
