About Me

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 19, 1941; she was named Ellen Naomi Cohen. She grew up in Washington D.C. and participated in many play productions involving her singing throughout her High School career. Made up a trio called "The Big Three" with Tim Rose and James Hendricks. They broke up towards the end of 1964.In mid 1965s "The Mama's and the Papa's" were created. They had many hits in the late 60s inculding "Monday, Monday" and "California Dreaming". However, their last hit helped launch Cass into her solo career, entitled: "Dream a little dream of me".Cass Elliot passed away on July 29, 1974due to heart attack.

Influences:~ Mama Cass Elliot is an influence to many singers of today.~ Cass Elliot's recording of "Make your own kind of music" has been featured in three episodes of "Lost" as well as "Live Together, Die Alone."~ The Crosby, Stills & Nash Greatest Hits album released in 2005 was dedicated to Cass Elliot.~ The song "Mama, I Remember You Now" by the Swedish artist Marit Bergman is a tribute to Mama Cass.~ A recording of "Dream a Little Dream of Me" in French (sung by Elliot) can be heard in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada."
