About Me
In 1993, Zemaljski bend Zagorelo (Burned Band from Earth) was formed. Yugoslavia was drowning in chaos. Something had to be done...Branislav Jemc & Sinisa Jelovac formed Zagorelo, and the band decided to create its own, parallel reality: its own government, music genre and special way of travelling. Since then, Zagorelo has recorded 4 albums and one remix-project."Rampa" (Ramp), their first album, contains noise of wooden canes hitting aluminium boards, a lot of yelling, absurd lyrics and rudimentar punky sound. Something like "punk meets surrealism".After that, a master-piece called "Jednostavno odveden" (Simply Taken Away) was released in 1997. This album has pushed Zagorelo even further towards reduction, with mormoring, screams, repeated words, lyrics that are mocking every part of everyday life in Yugoslavia, filled with religios zealots, post-war syndroms, and senseless television program."Tople peci" (Warm stoves) were banned by Earth's Council, because of their threat to the world. And finally, the last & final album, "Sagorelo" (Burned to Ashes), with strange liturgies, sound excerpts from group singing, a capella folk covers, ends with words: "What is outside? Is there really a revolution at all?"A history of Zagorelo is history of 9 annual concerts in Sremski Karlovci, a lot of performances mainly at underground Serbian clubs, 3 manifestos, couple of exhibitions, a book of poetry, and performances on international theatre festivals. In 2006, just a small part of Zagorelo's feelings and ideas has been captured in "The Road to High Earth" movie.
