I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am a singer/song-writer. Since I learned how to play the guitar 11 years ago, I've been writing and singing songs. Up until rather recently, it's sort of been a closet project - an intimate hobby of my own that I didn't really share too too often other than randomly in a group of friends or at church or something. When Shane and I moved to LA last fall, my desire took a turn. I've always enjoyed sharing my songs with others, but I really felt like it was time to make a commitment to myself to fully enjoy it. So I've been working hard at my craft, writing a lot of new material and sharing it with others by booking shows and gathering a small following. I'm finding a renewed sense of who I am and what I want to be doing by taking this needed step, and I'm excited to share it with you! My music myspace is: www.myspace.com/jamieelizabethdrake. This is me playing the Sidewalk Cafe open mic in NYC: ..I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I'm married to the adorable Shane Drake. We've been together for over 7 years now - which is amazing! Together, we built a production company called Red Van Pictures. It was Shane's vision and I supported it. We produce the music videos and Shane directs them as well. He also reps a few directors. I have been working closely with him for the last few years doing wardrobe for about 90% of these babies, and it has been a crazy ride! One of the big highlights was at the 2006 VMA awards where Shane's video for "Panic at the Disco" was nominated in 5 different catagories! I was even nominated for art design - it was pretty mind-blowing. Well, as many of you know, Shane won video of the year for that video, and ever since, nothing's been the same. It's been amazing to be a part of for me - to work with my husband and see something we started together gain so much success. :) At the end of last year, (2007) I decided to hang up my key wardrobe title with the desire to pursue my love of music, and appropriately, my last video I worked with Shane on was Panic's most recent video for "Nine in the Afternoon." I'm proud of the work I've done and I hope you'll enjoy the videos below in which I have been a part of!My favorite projects to work on have been for the "Plain White T's" - those guys really ARE the nicest, down-to-earth fellows I've met in a band, and also because it was a DREAM job. The inspiration for this video was "Rushmore" and "The Graduate." Does it get any better? Also we had the honor of working with "Paramore" for the fourth time on "CRUSH CRUSH CRUSH. These kids are the sweetest, most adorable kids and I wish them the best of luck! This video was kick-ass too. It's set in the desert, Haylee looks larger than life, and the costuming was so much fun! I've also enjoyed working with the Panic boys as well - so talented and fun!! :) BELOW ARE SHANE'S VIDEOS IN WHICH I HAVE DONE WARDROBE FOR: Enjoy! ;)

More than anything in this life, I hope to become the person God created me to be. (It's so darn hard though).

My Interests

My marriage to the coolest dude ever - Shane Drake - and our ever growing wonderment of eachother. My family and the zaniness we share.I love playing my new Martin guitar and working on new songs to write, sing and share.I enjoy talking openly about abstract ideas, thoughts and fine-tuning my belief in God. I go in and out of enjoying spending time reading the Bible and writing prayers down in my journal while attempting to grab hold of a deeper relationship with God. This is sometimes enjoyable as I said, and sometimes a lot of work. I guess that's why it's called "faith."I enjoy learning new things, and so I'm going back to school. I've learned that I really like gorillas and orangutans, and wish it were ethical to have either one as a pet.

I'd like to meet:

In no particular order: Jesus. Bono. Steve Carell. Feist. Sufjan Stevens. Billie Holiday. Ella Fitzgerald. A trombone player, a clarinet player, a banjo player, someone who plays the cello, and a pianist so I can form a rag-time band. Idk -- my future kids -- but not yet. This is cheesy.

Music:

Feist + The Shins + Band of Horses + The Decemberists + old Steely Dan + Billie Holiday + Journey + Brian Adams + Ryan Adams + Madeleine Peyroux + Iron and Wine + Beth Orton + Elton John + Billy Joel + Al Green + Marvin Gaye + Aretha Franklin + Ella Fitzgerald + Coldplay + Imogen Heap + Great Lake Swimmers + John Coltrane + M.
