About Me

I like to think I'm cool for an old woman (38) but the truth is I'm just a dork. I do desktop publishing as a profession and video editing as a hobbie ... so I guess I'm qualified as a psuedo-computer-geek. I love Jesus ... And my hubby and kids.I am a recovering volunteer-a-holic. I work with the Yuba Sutter Mexico Mission Trip as the Program & Registration Director, but this is going to be my last year ... I'm training others to do the job next year.I worked on the committee for my 20 year High School Reunion ... GO HONKERS! Check out this cool site my friend Jeff put together: www.ychsclassof1987.org.I spend a lot of time working with the YS Mexico Mission Trip ... probably too much time ... definitely too much time. 2008 will be my last year as registration director ... But I love it. I love the kids that go ... and I love the mission ... check us out on www.ysmexicomission.com.I'm kind of moving into a new phase of my life right now. Not quite sure what all I'm going to do next ... but I know that it is becoming different. I'm finding joy in different things than the things that have brought me joy over the last 20-something years ... a new season I guess. If there is one thing that I know without a doubt, it is that God can heal any hurt if we let Him.

My Interests

Here is a little bit of my Desktop Publishing Portfolio:

My other interests include my kids, playing guitar, desktop publishing, video editing, Youth Ministry, Leadership Training.Lately I have been getting into video editing. I am finding such a creative release and energy doing it.Have you ever noticed how everything seems to be tied together in the universe? How nothing seems to happen or exist without the dependency of something else? What would you call "the thing" that holds it all together? I would call it "God" ... and would love to hear your perspective on this. E-mail me sometime about it.

I'd like to meet:

C.S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkein at the same time and just listen to them discuss cool stuff! What amazing men! Current favorite C.S. Lewis quote: "You don't HAVE a soul. You ARE a Soul. You HAVE a body!"

Music:

I love all types of Rock. Some of my favorite Christian artists are: Bebo Norman, Caedman's Call, Jennifer Knapp, Audio Adrenaline, Chris Tomlin and the David Crowder Band. Favorite classic rockers include: Eagles, Queen, Steve Miller Band, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Clapton, and soooo many more. Other favorites: Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder ... more, more, more. Currently in the CD player ... The Police.

Movies:

Narnia, LOTR, Matrix, The Princess Bride, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Indiana Jones movies ... LOVE adventures ... not too hot on typical chick-flicks.

Television:

24!!!! Right now that is the one I CAN'T miss! I also like all of the CSI's, Criminal Minds, Bones (yeah ... I like the crime solvers), also Heroes, Big Brother, Smallville, Supernatural, American Idol ... I'm really sad that Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel aren't on anymore. I know it is odd for an old youth director to watch something so Theologically ridiculous ... but they had some great one liners, and what's wrong with a woman kicking a little demon-butt here and there???

Books:

Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell, LOTR, Chronicles of Narnia, Dangerous Wonder and Messy Spirituality by Mike Yaconelli (my youth ministry guru), wish I had more time to read ...

CS. Lewis - THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA.

Wayne Rice - Play It!: Great Games for Groups

Mike Yaconelli - Messy Spirituality

Mike Yaconelli - Dangerous Wonder (with Discussion Guide)

Jude Fisher - The Fellowship of the Ring Visual Companion (The Lord of th...

J.R.R. Tolkien - The Hobbit

Rob Bell - Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith

Mike Yaconelli; Yaconelli - Heart of Youth Ministry, The [Unknown Binding] by Yaconell...

My eyes are dry ...
