About Me

I am full-time student, proud dog owner, part-time receptionist, aspiring fashion model, full-fledged fashionista, world-traveler, faithful democrat, staunch feminist and active fan of live music.

My Interests

Fashion, nature, British Literature, bluegrass, ice cream, feminism, astrology, playing chess, music festivals, canoeing, houseplants, pizza, organic farmers, traveling, sewing, fine art, organic food.

I'd like to meet:

Johnny Depp, Neil Young, Coco Chanel and Jackie Kennedy

Music:

I like any genre of music assuming it's done well. Some of my favorites include: Widespread Panic, Hackensaw Boys, YMSB, Sloppy Joe, Stealing Strings, Sologigolos, Thievery Corporation, MOE, the Clash, MMW, the New Deal, the Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead, the Jerry Garcia Band, Bob Marley, Cat Power, Fela Kuti, Johnny Cash, Fiona Apple, Mazy Star, No Doubt, DJ Shadow, Galactic, the Beatles, Cake, the Pixies, the Strokes, Manu Chau and/or Manu Negra, Blackalicious, Atmosphere, Roisin Murphy…and many more!

Movies:

I don’t see many movies. When I do they are usually funny. My favorite is a tie between Best in Show and Zoolander. Life is Beautiful, the Royal Tenenbaums's, the Life Aquatic, Kill Bill 2, and the Squid and the Whale are also great.

Television:

I don’t own a Television. I figure I waste enough time on the Internet to indulge in any other activity that isn’t productive. Back in the day I used to watch the Simpson’s, Conan O’Brian, the Office and Seinfeld. I have been known to borrow DVD’s of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sex and the City and Futurama from friends –I have yet to meet someone who owns all three.

Books:

Books –I love them! I read quite a bit. After I graduate I plan to go to grad school for English and learn everything there is to know about British Literature. Some of favorite British Literature includes: A Handful of Dust, The Virgin and the Gypsy, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, Jane Eyre and Dracula, and anything by Shelley. As for American Literature…I have written many papers on the talents of Edgar Allen Poe and am a huge fan of William Gass. Middlesex and the Virgin Suicides by Jeffery Eugendies are must reads. Some non-literature indulgences include books on astrology, fashion, Coco Chanel, linguistics and the Kennedy’s.

Heroes:

Sparknotes.com, my dog Andre, my local organic farmer, Shanel Regier.
