About Me

Born in Geneva on September 12 1976, he studies piano and theory at the Superior Conservatory of his hometown. He obtains piano and writing diplomas as well as the City of Geneva's Adolphe Neumann Prize, an award for particulary distinct artists. He pursues his education at the Tibor Varga Academy in Sion with Dominique Weber until he obtains the Soloist Diploma with distinctions. Simultaneously, he regullary followed classes given by John Perry, Marc Durand and Paul Badura-Skoda (in particular the Viennese repertoire on original instruments) and participated in masterclasses by Gyorgy Sebok, Julian Martin, Yoheved Kaplinski and Irwin Gage for the lied.Fellow of the Göhner Foundation with a scholarship in 1999, he wins the 2002 "New Talents" Competition (Genoa, Italy) and the 2003 "Orpheus" Competition (Zurich, Switzerland). In 2001, he received the Prize of the Audience at the Klaviersommer Festival in Germany for his interpretation of Mozart. More recently, he was an honorary mention award winner of the Seventh International Web Concert Hall Competition, entitling him to a Word Wide Web broadcast during the 2005-2006 season at the Web Concert Hall and thereafter having his audition performance being broadcast frpm the Web Concert Artist Series for the next seven years.He gives numerous concerts, participates in many festivals, both in recitals and in chamber music, performs as a soloist (under Gabor Takacs' direction notably) and is regularly sollicited for radio and television recordings.He has recorded works of Honneger and Ravel and recorded a Schumann CD for the canadian label Palexa.Fabrizio Chiovetta currently teaches piano at the Conservatory of Geneva.
