.:They call me Meesh:.
You can, too.
I'm an only child and a small-town girl. You could probably call me the girl next door. (Especially if you happen to live next door to me...) I've been a dancer (mainly ballet) for about 18 years and I was a circus performer for 5 years (see my other pictures). I take pictures as a hobby (that album desperately needs to be updated, none of my most recent work is in there). I love going to concerts and shows. This started in my freshman year of college and now it consumes half my life. I am completely fascinated by the music industry, though I don't pretend to really know anything about how it works (but I'm getting there). Music is my refuge. I used to perform in a student-run dance group at Purdue called Higher Ground Dance Company. I occasionally choreographed dances, which you can see here:

I'm attending Purdue University for six years to be a pharmacist. I work in a hospital pharmacy when I'm not at school, and I think I'd like to do the same when I graduate. If you refer to me as just a pill-pusher, we are not friends. I'm finally done with the five years of classes, and in June I'm moving to Louisville for a year's worth of experiential rotations before I graduate in 2010.
I used to be shy when I first met people, but this is starting to change. Certain people (best friends and bands, essentially) cause me to unveil an outgoing side I never knew I had. Despite some lingering shyness, I love to meet new people, and I care about everyone I meet. If you need me, I'll listen. It's what I do.
What else?
I sing loudly in the car and shower.
I tend to procrastinate. I sleep at odd times. I am insecure.
I want to be spontaneous and I'm finally getting there.
I am at my very happiest when I'm at concerts of my favorite bands.
I loathe people who achieve their goals by flaunting their physical assets.
I hate most big cities, but I love Los Angeles and Chicago a lot.
I think beat-up Chuck Taylors are sexy.
I'd wear band shirts, skinny jeans, and flip-flops every day if I could.
I like sunflowers, stargazer lilies, and weeping willow trees.
I have a mild fear of becoming an old lonely cat lady.
When I was little, I wanted to be a librarian when I grew up.
Then I wanted to be a ranger for Yellowstone National Park.
I don't believe in love at first sight.
I do believe that things happen for a reason.
I try to stay true to myself.
I usually succeed in that endeavor.
Love:
God, family, friends, music, concerts, books, movies, photography, dancing of all sorts, the circus, taking walks, camping, thunderstorms, macaroni and cheese, overpriced espresso drinks from Starbucks, bands, Los Angeles, staying up too late, naps, laughing, and living
Don't love:
broccoli, insincerity, rude people, early classes, terrible professors, cleaning my room, people who use others, lack of respect for fellow humans, ugly fashion fads, alarm clocks, liars, and bad drivers
The following are some of my very favorite bands, who all deserve a place in the spotlight on my page. Do yourself a favor and take the time to check them all out. [Updating soon, stay tuned... watch for Treaty of Paris]

I've seen these guys 25 times in 11 different states since May 2005. I owe them for some of my best friends and some of the best times in my recent memory. Jason's lyrics are genuine and relatable. The music is versatile... they can make you cry and rock your face off all in one show. I like to say they have a song for every mood you could possibly be in. Jason, Rick, Bryce, and Ben are all amazingly talented and are some of the sweetest guys you will ever meet. They're great with their fans, they love what they do, and I love them for that.

When I agreed to see a Guster show in 2005, I went in with no expectations and came out knowing that this band would be one of my favorites for a long time. They have a sound that is somehow different from other bands, punctuated by drummer Brian’s incomparable hand drum skills. Each album has been crafted with a different and ever-evolving sound, and while some fans feel they’ve changed too much over time, I feel it shows their tremendous capacity for musical growth. Guster has tunes for everyone, and their connection with their fans has created a fiercely loyal following. [photo credit: Guster myspace]
Official Mute Math Site
Mute Math puts on a live show with a spastic energy that no other band exudes, leading to a performance that can only be described as semi-controlled mass chaos. Amazingly enough, the pandemonium onstage doesn’t detract from the musical performance; in fact, it makes it even better. Defying any single genre classification, MM first captured my attention with Paul’s soaring vocals and their experimental, unique rhythms. Combine all this with the fact that they are hilarious and genuinely kind, and you’ve got yourself the complete package. And really... who else but Mute Math could pull off a keytar in this decade? Is your music collection feeling a little stale? Are you in need of a band that’s more than just noise? If you answered “yes†(or even if you didn’t), then it’s about time you listen to Cavashawn. This Chicago-based group rocks like Weezer and grooves like Maroon 5, all while maintaining a unique sound. Their live show is an energetic display of musical talent, and those lucky enough to see them won’t be able to resist tapping their toes and dancing along. The band churns out new material for shows at a rapid pace, and the latest song always manages to be even catchier than the one before. Scott, Jesse, Chris, and Benton work harder than almost anyone I know, relentlessly promote and reach out to new fans, and take nothing for granted as they navigate through the music scene. They are certainly worth your attention, and you won’t be sorry if you stop to listen. [photo credit: Cavashawn Myspace]
Also, be sure to check out the other artists that are in my Top Friends. Just because I didn’t spotlight them doesn’t mean they aren’t great, because in fact, they’re all amazing.
