About Me

..
Hi, I'm Remco Korporaal and playing the sax now since I was eight years old. So that is 32 years now. Trained by my uncle Sigmund Toes(Hothouse), later by Gijs Hendrix I've been playing in or with many bands, like: Mr.Review, now Rude and Visser, since I was 15 years old, The Beatbusters, Mark Foggo, Rude Rich and the Highnotes, The Brentford Rudeboys (my old band), Sugar Minott, The Toasters, Mutabaruka, Junior Reid, 809-Band, Messer Banzani, Hans Dulfer, Osdorp Posse, Def P.,The Regulaters, Bad Manners (Twice), The Skatilates (twice), The Rotterdam Ska/Jazz Foundation, New York Ska/Jazz-Ensamble (twice), with Mico (guitarplayer) from Prince, J-Stars, Floyd Lloyd (Twice), The Hotknives, Splash, The Rotterdam Ska/Jazz Foundation, Contra Group, Doreen Shaffer, Skatilates (twice)and lot's of other fine bands/ musicians. I also play percussion since I was 5 years old. Sometimes I still play percussion here and there in bands or studio's. (Mr.Review, The Beatbusters, J-stars, Messer Banzani). After 25 years I stopped playing with Mr. Review/Rude & Visser. Different point of view made us go further in different musical directionsAlso, I record with DJ Blackfoot from Surinam and The Contra Group from Austin Texas and I have my own studio. Also Mr. Review recorded here.About 14 years ago I also published two important Ska-sampler-cd's for the Dutch Ska-Scene. Do the Dutch-Ska-Dance Vol 1 and 2. I also helped/ worked at the publish-company Jamaican Gold. The owner is Dr. Buster Dynamite, don 't forget this name! I also did a lot of Live-(dub)mixing for many, many bands and I've been on the road all over Europe, Africa and in The Carribian Islands. In Africa with African Bands to countries like: Angola, Mozambique, South-Africa, Cabo Verdian Islands, Nigeria and Tunisia.28th of august, 2008, my first son was born! And as soon as the household is running a bit okay again, I will start to record my own cd. The songs are ready....now a bit of time and, more difficult, musicians with some time. I did published some work of my own, "Virginska" Mr.Review, Mockin'Bird Hill with Brentford Rude Boys, with guys from The Beatbusters, Mr. Review. I also played on a Cd from Messer Banzani "skagga Yo". This was a band from Leipzig. I joined the band as a sax-player and later I was the leadvocalist together with Lani Topp, who wrote all the songs. I did this for 2 years full time. I also lived in Rotterdam for almost 13 years. I worked there in a very special club. They had live music there, 6 days a week. Jazz, Funk and Reggae/dub sessions on the highest level. I did the mixing and where I could, I played with every session on my saxophone. I did this for almost 3 full years. There I learned a lot about mixing and techniques and...live-dubmixing. At the moment I'm a full dedicated member of the Rotterdam Ska/Jazz Foundation and sometimes I play with The Toasters. Here and there a little instand-studio-job.Who knows....we can help eighother or we will play together some day, some where. I also record from a distance...that means: you send me a ruff mix, I record my tracks at home and send you my tracks back and you can copy/paiste them into your recordings/computer/mix-program. It' s a fast and cheap way of working. I've done it a few times this way, and it works perfectly fine! (DJ Blackfoot, Contra Coup, DJ Asher, Skaphonics, see friendslist) and very soon Contra Group/ the Stingers and Doreen Shaver...Maybe you or your band will be the next one?Cheerz & Respect!
