J-PNN got his first guitar for christmas at the age of five. He was inspired to play the guitar by watching Gregg Haynes (The Happy Guitarist) of St. Louis, Missouri play at various Churches; and his father: Henri Pennington; a Soul/R&B musician. In addition, James was inspired to play the guitar by watching the angelic, the legendary: "Kitaro" play guitar on VHS with his father. And in highschool, James was influenced by the "InfraRed Rockers", An international Reggae band based in St.Louis, MO. that James's father befriended. James is also heavenly infuenced by Carlos Santana.James started getting serious with his guitar playing at age 15; he is self taught. In additoin, at age 19, James got his first electric guitar; a Kramer stratocaster, from friend Joe Kraus who now resides in Denver, Colorodo. James recorded his own demo Album entitled: "Hood Rock" on casset tape in the winter of 2005. In addition, James was the lead and rhythm guitarist for Harris Stowe State Univerity's Gosple choir: "Victory"; in which he didicated three years of his talent. J-PNN has also played in a band called the"Beautiful Noise", but; the band only spanned two months. Furthermore, James performs his acts in concerts and talent shows every blue moon. And every opportunity, he loves to record. By far, James has met and conversated with Ernie Isley.( the dynamic lead and rhythm guitarist of the "Isley Brothers"). Ernie's advice to James is too, "Play how you Feel!" And in addition, J-PNN has met and conversated with the Honorable: "Wali Ali" who encouraged J-PNN, "Don't let them Intimidate You!"
