Gerrick

Growing up in the North Western city of Billings Montana, Gerrick Phillips found his calling in hard rock music, which first served as a means of escape from daily life in the suburban trailer courts of outlying Lockwood. Not known for it's native musical variety, Billings offered a small number of local heavy metal acts, and occasionally brought in the "big" acts which served as Gerrick's first musical influences. Acts like Metallica, Motley Crue, and Faith No More played major influences in his life, helping him become active in the local music community. Gerrick recorded his first full length recording and took the stage for the first time at the age of 14 in his first band Epitaph. Epitaph served as a gateway for Gerrick to learn the ins and outs of hard rock music through his mentor Dave Wire, who helped Gerrick in understanding the fundamentals of music recording and production. Epitaph soon grew and became a more focused, more "real" project, known as GRUDGE.
For the following 10 years Gerrick devoted his life to singing and playing guitar in the band GRUDGE, who went on to become a forefront band in bringing a hard rock/heavy metal scene to the state of Montana. As the frontman of GRUDGE, he lead the group in signing with independent label 7N records and later with BMG Entertainment, releasing the debut record "Forgiveness" which received rave reviews from mainstream hard rock publications and press.
Gerrick honed in on his unique vocal sound with the assistance of vocal coach Don Lawrence, known for shaping such quality vocals as Sebastian Bach, Christina Aguillera and Mike Patton. This along with years of road and studio experience with GRUDGE helped Gerrick acquire the talent and persona to be a name all his own.
Inspired by artists such as Silent Civilian, Decyfer Down, Red, Sevendust, and Demon Hunter Gerrick Phillips incorporates melodic heavy metal guitar riffs with a solid hard rock vocal style and catchy hooks that make his sound unique. Add the fact that he writes and records his own backing tracks, you can feel the fire in his music that has kept burning throughout his musical career. Gerrick continues to write and record tracks which he hopes to release as his first solo project in 2009.
