About Me

Juwita’s debut solo album, ‘Brand New World’ was awarded Best Local English Album at the prestigious AIM (Malaysian Music Industry Awards) in 2005. She was also nominated for Best Female Vocal Performance in an Album the same year. These were only 2 of the 4 nominations she and her album received at AIM2005.In her late teens, Juwita began to back leading Malaysian artistes at gigs, mega concerts and prominent award shows. Between work, studies, shows, rehearsals and other commitments she developed her personal versatility and was often called upon to record song demos for East Asian publishing houses. In fact, it was demos such as these which were eventually released and unexpectedly caught the attention of many a curious listener. One example is her rendition of “Breathe Again”, published by Warner Music Taiwan in a Soundtrack for Mandarin TV drama series ‘The Outsiders’.Since then, Juwita has performed at numerous events, youth rallies and concerts in Peninsular & East Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and Australia. Just recently she took the stage with fellow label-mate Liang at the Esplanade in Singapore where she received awesome response from the crowd. Juwita’s talent also earned her the trust of the producers of Malaysian Idol who signed her on for two seasons as the show’s vocal coach. Her long awaited sophomore album, ‘ Juwita Suwito - For Real ’ highlights her soulful vocals with edgier, acoustic pop flavours. It includes songs written by Juwita as well as "Beautiful Lies" from the Original Soundtrack of the movie ‘Gol & Gincu’ and the classic "Desperado" made popular by The Eagles. The album is making its presence felt on Malaysian radio with pop rock single “Walk Away” getting massive airplay on Fly FM. It also made it to Hitz FM's Malaysian English Top 10 chart. Meanwhile, “Destiny's Calling” and “Teman Sejati” made heavy rotation on Lite FM and Hot FM respectively. “All This Time” is currently riding high on Nokia's Independent Artists Club's pop chart and its music video is being aired on local television as well as Channel [V] and MTV Asia. These songs accentuate the realities of life as viewed by a young adult in a soulful yet fresh and contemporary urban style.'Juwita Suwito – For Real' was announced as one of the nominees in the 'Best Local English Album' category for AIM 2007. “Teman Sejati” was also nominated for the category 'Best Music Arrangement in a Song'. The album is being distributed by Universal Music Malaysia and is already available internationally on Apple’s iTunes store. It sheds new light on Juwita as a vocalist and songwriter, and is expected to bring her further into the global arena. In fact, Music Aid recently announced Juwita as country winner of the 2007 International Music Awards in the Best Female Solo Artist category – proof enough that Juwita is ready to get the show on the road!Purchase individual tracks or the full album here!

Sounds Like: "The album’s 10 tracks see Juwita heading into more acoustic pop rock territory for the most part, compared with the more pop soulful leanings of her debut effort. Especially with the first three tracks, Walk Away, Destiny’s Calling and All This Time, one would find that Juwita’s vocals lean towards a grittier, edgier style, yet layered with her familiar confidence and clarity."
- Jason Cheah: The Star (8 Jan 2007)
"Indeed, Walk Away – the single she performed at the For Real official launch recently – is a brilliant pop-rock number that is in the same vein as Avril Lavigne or Kelly Clarkson...
That’s not all; the talented lass has also shown her flawless vocal range on an Eagles' classic, Desperado."
- Chew Wan Ying: The Malay Mail: Showbiz (6 Mar 2007)
"Her lilting vocals hop, skip and jump over the pop melodies with ease. She sings from the heart and her passion is most evident on tracks like 'All This Time' and her take on the Eagles's classic 'Desperado'...
'For Real' is a wholesome record refreshingly free of all the negativity that everyone insists on rapping, rocking and swearing about nowadays. Blending urban pop with a dash of soul, this album's tailor-made for the whole family."
