Lance & Donna

About Me

Born in, and growing up around, Nashville, Tennessee, USA, somewhere between the cotton fields and the speak-easy's, music was everywhere around Lance. Playing ukulele and piano practically from birth, he got his own guitar at age 13. Over the years Lance developed his own style and techniques, weaving the stories of his life with his guitars singing along in unison. After over 15 years on the road in 29 countries living and playing music with his partner Donna Rae. (Chris Rea placed the Lance & Donna CD "Long Gone" at 2 in his Rolling Stone Top 10 CD picks in 2005!) The Lance Harrison Band was the only natural progression! Quick on the heels of the successful Fall 2005 CD release from Lance & Donna "The Sun Will Shine", the Spring 2006 debut CD from the Lance Harrison Band "No Rest For The Wicked" is receiving rave reviews. Totaling 26 original compositions, the two CD's reflect the amazing diversity of this talented singer/songwriter.
PRESS- "Don't miss out on one of the hottest acts in Europe today!" Bluesboarder "A show people talk about long after its over!" Guitarist magazine "Number 2 in top ten CD picks" Chris Rea, Rolling Stone magazine Jazz Hot (F), Soul Bag (F), Bluesnews (D), Rollin' & Tumblin' (L), Twoj Blues magazine (PL), IT Blues (IT), and more!!!! Influences: Deep breath...... thinking... that's a hard one! I have listened, studied, disected, digested, felt, explored, experienced so many different genres of music that it would easily fill this page. We just returned from 3 1/2 months in SE Asia exploring and listening to the different traditional musics offered there. Muddy Waters to Steve Reich to Grateful Dead to Khmer folksongs to MC 900 foot Jesus to Swedish polska.... I LOVE IT ALL! Influences... all of them have helped form who I am. It's like the song says, "all you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be..." (Breathe - PF) But I have to say, when I pick up my guitar to play, I always come back to the blues. It's the music of the soul. Music is the connection to the devine.
Sounds Like: Prewar blues, delta, folk, early American folk music, blues
