My Interests

I'd like to meet:

CLIVE BARKER

The genius behind the film "Hellraiser" (and the novella in which it was based, "The Hellbound Heart"). Also responsible for such movies as "Nightbreed" and "Lord of Illusions", as well as being the author of countless books. His visions are both terrifying and beautiful (in a very disturbing, yet wonderful, way). While I admit it's been a while since I've read any of his works, I've been a fan of his since "Hellraiser" debuted. I bought a series of antholgies, "The Books of Blood", shortly thereafter, and I've been a fan since. On a side note, I've been reading on the web that one of the stories from the "Books of Blood" is being made into a movie - "Midnight Meat Train". Vinnie Jones plays the killer in it. I've enjoyed watching his bad-ass character roles before (which is another story in itself), so this will be interesting to watch.
EDDIE

Okay, I know he's not real, but as the mascot of my favorite band (which is pretty obvious), I've always been captivated by the artwork since I became a fan. Without the artistic wizardry of Derek Riggs, many of Iron Maiden's fans may not have been lured in. I was certainly sucked in by the detailed artwork, and the strange settings in which he transported to for the album cover, single cover, or wherever he appeared. He may only be a character, but us fans hold him in the same regard as the rest of the band. And, just like any fan, I want to see what new setting he's in as much as I want to hear the new music whenever a new album comes out!
KEVIN SMITH

What can I say about this guy? His movies are hilarious! I've seen all his movies (except "Jersey Girl"; what can I say, I'm a lazy bastard!) He writes about a lot of geeky shit, of which I, and many other people can relate. His sense of humor is both vulger and intelligent (who says toilet humor can't be smart?). And, in every interview I've seen him in, he's always seemed like a pretty cool dude! I never got a chance to read any of the comics he wrote, because I've been in a comic book haitus (blasphemy!), and I used to spend too much freakin' money on it (but enough about me!). He's obviously a guy who loves what he loves, and doesn't give a damn what people think. So long as he keeps putting out the goods, I'll keep watching or reading (and FUCK OFF to anyone who thinks I'm an ass-kiss!)
BRUCE CAMPBELL

Better known to the casual fan as "Ash" from the "Evil Dead" movies (just don't call him Ash). He may not be an A-list actor, but he is the most entertaing actor to come around in a long time! Having done many cameos in a lot of Sam Raimi's projects (inluding Spider-man and Spider-man 2), appearing in guest roles on t.v. shows, having his own show, "The Adventures Of Brisco County, Jr.", he's a hard guy not to notice. Equipped with a quick-witted sarcasm, he's just too damned funny to ignore. I have obviously not seen everything he's done, but, if you want to see his most interesting role, rent (or better yet, buy) "Bubba Ho-Tep". He plays an aged Elvis Presly in a retirement home. He teams up with a guy who thinks he's JFK (played by Ossie Davis). Together, they must stop a mummy that's loose in their retirement home. A very off-beat movie, but highly entertaining! If you like very different movies, or are just a fan of Bruce Campbell, GET THIS MOVIE!

Movies:

Television:

My favorite sci-fi show, and quite possibly the best frakkin' (if you're a fan, you'll know what I mean) show on t.v., the reimagined Battlestar Galactica pulls no punches. The only difference between this show and other good dramas is this: science fiction is the back drop. If people could get past that, they would realize how good of a show this is. This is not just a sci-fi show - it's a sci-fi show with a huge set of balls! It takes chances with moments of brutality, emotional honesty, and characters so flawed, that you can easily relate on one level or another. Plus, the writing and acting are top-notch when compared to ANY t.v. show, sci-fi, or otherwise. My own personal regret about the show? I don't get to watch it enough!
MY OTHER FAVORITE LIVE ACTION SHOWS:
All "Star Trek" shows
"Boston Legal"
"Smallville"
"X-Files"
"Jackass"
"Numb3rs"
"C.S.I." (original)

MY FAVORITE ANIMATED SHOWS:
"Family Guy"
"Futurama"
"Robot Chicken"
"Justice League"
"Drawn Together"
"Tripping The Rift"
"Beavis And Butt-head"
...and, of course, there's a lot more. isn't it obvious, i'm something of a geek!

Books:

"THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS"!
One of the best Batman stories, EVER! Written by Frank Miller (Sin City; 300), it takes place in a near-apocalyptic future. No one has seen or heard from Batman for over 10 years, and Superman is a government sellout. Things in Gotham City start to turn for the worse (if that's even possible), so Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement and reclaims the mantle of Batman. My words cannot even possibly do this work any justice. If you are a fan of Batman, THIS IS ESSENTIAL READING. You will not be dissapointed! p.s. If you enjoy this, pick up it's sequel: "THE DARK NIGHT STRIKES AGAIN". Kind of a different beast, story-wise, but entertaining, nonetheless. (hell, anything Frank Miller writes is usually pretty damn good reading)

OTHER FAVORITE BOOKS:
"The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" (a novel) by Arthur Adams
"The Hellbound Heart" (a novella) by Clive Barker
"The Books Of Blood" (short stories; anthology) by Clive Barker
Pretty much anything, actually, by Clive Barker
Anything by H.P. Lovecraft
...and there are lot of other novels, graphic novels, comics, etc. that I like, but would be too long to list
