She absolutely fell in love with the stage in junior high school when she joined the choir, but Jakia was deeply moved make a career of her own talents after witnessing Lauryn Hill live in concert. “It was the connection she had with her audience that inspired meâ€, she remarks of the experience.Since then Jakia has been developing her own connection to the world through her music. She worked her way through school at the University of North Texas and honed her skills, immersing herself in both the art of music and the business behind it. She sang back-up on tour with Neo-Soul/R&B singer Mahogany and then proved her versatility as an artist when she teamed up with folk-rock singer Dave Yaden for a country music project titled “It’s the Wayâ€.For her latest project “Extra Extra†Jakia collaborated with Grammy Award winning producer Madukwu Chinwah, Erykah Badu f.
