Well the news is good as no anti-rust was needed. We surprised each other not only because we actually remembered some of the old tunes, but because we slipped into the great feeling we had when we played so long ago. It shows on the video we made and the sounds we squeezed out of our aging hands. Most bands dont leave it for 34 years between practice so it was a surprise that there was a consensus to try and organise a jam. Especially when you consider that the Drummer Pete and Rhythm guitarist Paul live in Canberra and the rest which is Dave on Lead Guitar, Rob on Vocal and Rhythm and Andre on Bass, live in Sydney! MySpace Graphics MySpace Glitters MySpace Editor MySpace Comments Warning Generator We practiced in Canberra and had a weekend of reminiscing and playing some new songs for the band as well as old favourites. This is a 'to be continued' event and there may be a recording or live performances in the not so distant future. It was hard to imagine that we would get together again after such a long time and still have that magic we remembered. Some people (like the great Bass Player Alan Britton) recently said they had seen us at Garema Place on Friday nights and could still recognise our well matured faces. We played with Canberra bands like Snibbo, Canyon, Franklin B Paverty, Oak, Saga, Heaven, Muskrat Ramble, Airport, Astral Plane, Frisco, The Choke Brothers etc, etc. There has been talk of a concert or reunion of the old Canberra bands and if this does happen the the old Frosted Glass will ride again, the fire is still there as well as the love of the music and friends. Band Members: Dave Scotland - Lead Guitar/Vocals. Dave has been in the music industry for most of his life and it sure shows in his professionalism and finese. He was the main crowd drawer 34 years ago and I think time has not changed that. His attention to detail and tone combined with slick hands has caused many a jaw to drop. Well, it all comes so naturally to Dave and thats why it seems so effortless for him to shred a solo and still keep an eye on the other guys in the band and have a laugh. With such a wide variety of songs you have to adapt and Dave always comes up with the goods. Like the old song we do with a hammond organ playing through a leslie speaker, which Dave played on guitar with the same effect, who needs an organ when you have Dave. Robert Cameron - Lead Vocal/Rhythm guitar. With an uncanny ear to sing a song in any key and the clearest diction I have ever heard, Rob always impresses. His voice has matured from those days just out of school and some band work in the nineties has paid dividends. He is a much stronger singer now and thanks to a Steely Dan tribute band (Baudacious Cowboys) at the Basement where he sang along to almost every track and every bit as good as the guy on stage, I knew he had become a great singer. He has a unique quality to his voice which I have not heard before and may never hear again. Peter Davis - Drummer/Vocals. Pete still has his original kit, maybe he has been hanging out for a reunion or something, as I think he has not played with another band since the old days of Frosted Glass. Its an honor to think we are the only band you will play in, so we all feel its an honor to play with Pete. One thing that distinguished Pete from all the other drummers was not the jazz style of playing, but his uncanny sense or steady timming. Now that we have uncovered a little secret that Pete can really hold a tune, there will be another vocalist in the lineup and possibly a lead vocal if the song suits his range. Paul Hogie - Rhythm guitar/Vocals. Not only does Paul play rhythm but sometimes lead and hopefully duets with Dave on suitable tunes. Although he is often in the background Paul has a higher role in musical arrangement and transcribing songs. He is very particular in getting it just right and it all sounds so much better in the end. Many bands are not accurate in there chords or harmonies and it sounds ok but when played exactly it sounds just right. This is where Dave and Paul are on the same page and dont conflict in the notes they play or rhythms they strum. Paul still has all his original gear like Pete and has not played in 34 years, but you would never know, its amazing to watch and hear. His hidden talent is his singing and its time for that to come out of the closet and let that voice which sang lead in school musicals add a fourth harmony to challenge the Eagles and LRB. Andre Hogie - Bass Player. Fortunately, Andre has recently (6 months ago) started playing in a Sydney band (Busted Custard) so no stage fright, but plenty of rust. He is thrilled to play with the guys again and still cant believe its happening.
