Root 8 Recordings

Root 8 Recordings is Scotland's first multicultural record label based within Stow College and also run by Stow's Music Industry Management students. Root 8 is now in its third year of operation and hopes to showcase the vast diversity of roots music within Scotland, and give it the credit that it deserves whilst raising the profile of Multicultural Artists in Scotland.
This year Root 8 Recordings of Stow College are proud to release “What is Life” the result a wonderful music collaboration between Glaswegian songstress Soom-T and King Creosote of the East Neuks famed Fence Collective. Soom-T and KC initially met and had an enjoyable time creating music at the Burnsong Songhouse held in Dumfries and Galloway in December 2006. Burnsong is a national songwriting initiative inspired by Robert Burns, to promote and nurture a new era of songwriting in Scotland.
This limited edition 7 inch single will be released on the 14th of May with the launch party being held @ Oran Mor Glasgow featuring Soom-T, The Bluebells, How to Swim, Electric Honey new band Wake The President and Belle and Sebastian.
