Beauty by Onya
I believe Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; however beauty is to me an expression of God's Love (for us and others), Worship, and Purpose. If beauty is not understood fully or seen through Gods eyes, the result can be a very painful and fearful process or experience. God is the Greatest Artist ever!!! I have learned and am still learning that God doesn't make junk or ugly things, only beautiful things, people, and places. I enjoy seeing what God sees, now.
I have never been a cliquish type of person, ONLY because, during my early childhood, I was a victim of various forms of discrimination, perpetrated by females as well as males. I have concluded that no one is able to see beauty or purpose using their own eyes. So I try very hard never to judge someone's character based on physical, mental, financial, emotional, or relational criteria, all of which are temporal in nature.
Because God chose us, He makes sure we face obstacles and go through preparation in life, so that we may understand His thoughts and His ways with regard to people, places, and things (Beauty/Purpose). My fear and pain has resulted from wrestling with God, not trusting, not knowing, and not willing to surrender. God knows my beauty; He prepared and designed it for His purpose (a part of the Greatest Masterpiece). Why did He choose me? I don't know, and at this point, I don't care! I just want to surrender all, constantly.
Note: My will must be broken or dealt with in order for me to see God's "True Beauty". When the Pain is greater than the pleasure, then I will let go and surrender!
Bottom line: God sees us as beautiful and wonderfully made, right? However, it usually takes time for us to realize true "Beauty" and to recognize the many forms through which God has displayed it before us. We tend to have our own narrow-minded perception of what "we think" beauty really is.
To me, Beauty is formed (created/made) by God (The Greatest Artist ever). I truly believe He purposes through it to cultivate a deeper level of Love, Trust, and Worship within our relationship. He wants and deserves the Glory! God explained to me that most people—particularly men—only allow themselves to understand and accept their own perception of beauty, instead of God's. We tend to turn down and/or delay the very thing we need, all because of fear. We lack knowledge and an understanding of the Beauty/purpose of people, places, and things God sends to us.
The only reason I am able to identify and accept His perception of beauty is because I remember the pain of being rejected, of being judged by others, whose perception of my beauty and purpose, though ultimately and necessarily flawed, was of great import to me at the time. So, now, I have allowed God to come in and show me what He sees."
I have always wanted to see people spared the pain which so viciously assailed me.
In conclusion, I must remember that I may not see right away the beauty and purpose inherent within a given person or circumstance. But this doesn't change the fact that they were chosen by God to cross my path for a reason. I must understand that just because people can’t see my beauty and purpose immediately doesn’t render them null and void. Sometimes we have to wait until fear and our wills are broken before we see "True Beauty". And only God knows whether you may be that very person whom He has chosen to use in the unleashing of said beauty and purpose. So when people don’t understand, they usually give in to fear, and, in turn, either run, ignore, or hide.
At least, I know I do!
