First displaying his skills by freestying in the cafeteria of his middle school at the age of 12, Da BlockBoi a.k.a. LL COOL BLOCK or BILLION DOLLA BLOCK, realized that rapping was what he was destined to do. Although Shomari J. Martemus-Brown, born August 21, 1988, is not originally from Texas , he claims Dallas-Oak Cliff as his home and loves the south. Da BlockBoi received his name because he felt as if he was just another kid from the block trying to get his shine on.Wanting to be remembered as one of the best entertainers in the business, he makes sure that his music is geared toward a large audience. Some of his influences are TuPac, B.G, Biggie Smalls, Ludacris, Plies, Nelly, Jay-Z, and R. Kelly, just to name a few. He not only writes club hits or songs about street life, he also explores topics such as love and life lessons. When his fans listen to his music, he wants them to feel a connection with him through it. He is determined to put out hits that his fans can relate to. With an upbeat track and catchy lyrics, Da BlockBoi’s first single, “Check Out My Fitâ€, is hitting the clubs and the radio waves generating a great response, and he has performed at many nightclubs throughout the DFW Metroplex. “Check Out My Fit is about going to a club, with some fly gear and you telling everybody to look at you because you’re what that is.â€God, talent, and determination are what he thinks artists need to survive in the rough waters of the music industry. He plans on perfecting his craft and stepping his game up for the ever-changing personality of hip-hop.He is currently on the NGenuis Entertainment label, on the Hustle Fam Management roster and a member of the Prime Time Click.
