“SoulSwitch has an unmistakable and uniquely explosive sound,†declared Connections Magazine in their glowing review of the band's six song EP. Impressive words which only begin to describe the rich modern rock/melodic metal sound of the Orlando based powerhouse. In the short time since the band's inception they’ve amassed a remarkable list of accomplishments, including being chosen by the listeners to earn a coveted slot on the WJRR Earth Day Birthday 15 second stage alongside Another Black Day, Rev Theory, and Saving Abel. SoulSwitch has also shared the stage with Nonpoint, Stereoside, Diecast, and Soulidium.Onstage, SoulSwitch displays a riveting, thunderous performance of their crowd pleasing original material. In a recent show review Connections Magazine wrote, “They’ve grown from a good local band to a band ready for national exposure.†That fact hasn’t been lost on their steadily growing fan base. Recently SoulSwitch attracted 1200 fans as they headlined Hard Rock Live. Not bad for a bunch of guys doing what comes naturally—making great music.
SoulSwitch was formed in the spring of 2003 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The founder and guitarist of SoulSwitch, Jimmy Kwong, relocated the band to Orlando, Florida in the winter of 2005. Seeking new musicians and new life for the band, the final lineup was completed in the fall of 2006.
The SoulSwitch lineup consists of Tom Huestis out of Hartford, Connecticut handling the vocals writing captivating melodies with a broad range singing style from Hardcore to Broadway. Jimmy Kwong from Fort Lauderdale, Florida takes the role of guitars and song compositions with a vision of creating sonic landscapes with emotion. Nic Allen from Orlando, Florida attacks songwriting and the lead guitar by creating melodies with speed and precision. Matt Larson also from Orlando, Florida creates infectious grooves on the bass guitar and has an incredible aura on stage. Michael Mouris out of Boston, Massachusetts is the drummer who produces solid beats with percussive hooks and syncopation. Mouris has also toured Germany and other cities in Europe with an overseas Pop/Rock artist. As a collective group of talented musicians, SoulSwitch is bound to turn heads with their original sound and engaging stage show.
SoulSwitch… one word… two Capital S’s… the Black and Red has arrived.
