On April 13th 2007, in a tram station, somewhere in the middle of Brussels, four students formed this very unique band. The band initially came together to merely purchase a group ticket for what turned out to be a rather sweaty, cramped and undeniably uncomfortable tram ride. This then escalated and within the space of a few minutes the band had been formed, originally called Greasy Glasses, and there was already talk of headlining Wembley towards the end of the year.
The next day, Cracker and the Walnuts performed their first live show. After getting inebriated at a local jazz bar, the band and their entourage of groupies made their way to a karaoke bar, not far from the hostel they were staying at. Lead singer Luke, a.k.a Cracker, took to the stage and performed "Smooth" by Santana. Still buzzing with excitement from this first performace, Luke put himself and the rest of the band down to sing "Thunderbirds Are Go" by Busted.
The fact that only drummer Steve knew the words to the song was no obstacle and the band performed regardless. Luke put his heart and soul into the song whilst Steve introduced a Screamo element. The band did so well that a German guy wanted Steve to sing "Enter Sandman" with him. Unfortunately the band had to leave so Steve never got to take to the stage again.
Upon arrival back in Britain, Cracker and the Walnuts have established a solid fan base amongst their fellow students, achieving almost cult status. As of the present date, Luke has already lined up the bands debut album, Primal Fury of the Master Race, whilst Steve and Moody have also stated that they wish to do a cover of "Funkytown" by Lipps Inc. However, the bands progress is being slowed due to the fact that Moody, contrary to popular belief, cannot play bass. Guitarist Iain has also spoken openly about his disappointment at the fact that he feels Moody did not bleed enough during the creation of the album.
At this time, the band are on a hiatus of sorts. Mainly due to the fact that they haven't seen each other since their film studies exam and are just plain lazy when it comes to actually making music.
Check back soon for more updates.
Luke: Originally a nobody, Luke shot to fame by just being old. His actual talent lies in his ability to work a crowd, he's only a singer because he's no good at anything else. To be honest, his singing leaves a lot to be desired, but for purposes of arguement its "unique". His influences include, Rob Thomas, Jay Clifford and Engelbert Humperdinck.Iain: Originally a trumpet player, Iain brings the jazz, rhythm and blues, and all things funky to the band's unique and intriguing sound. Known for his height he can often be seen scurrying up a tree hiding from the ever rabid STEVEN LEE.Moody: Moody is often considered to be the most abused member of the band, regularly receiving derogatry comments regarding his gingerness as well as constant beatings from Steve and Luke. The situation is not helped by the fact that Moody is the love child of an ewok and Anne Frank's Bear. He claims he picked up his bass skills whilst staying at a buddhist monastery in Tibet. He really learnt it from a hobo called Zeus at a French subway station.Steve: Had never shaved until 17th June 2007. More to the point he is a wookie often seen eating a "Dave Sandwich". Professional bear wrestler.
