The Projects: a melodically driven rock band infused with synth lines and songs that make you want to get up and dance. Calling South Florida their home, the group plans to flood their home state and the rest of the world with their music. The Projects as they exist today came together as the result of years of history, friendship, and experience- a unique cocktail of talent that somehow blends perfectly. The lineup consists of Danny D’Brito on drums, Tony Livadas on guitar and synth, Nick O’leary on lead vocals, Blake Robbins on bass, and Hazen Ziringer on guitar.
Everything started back in 2005. The band came together through several jam session amongst a few long time friends. Over time, the jams turned into solid songs and the decision to become an actual band was made. The bands first release, a self titled EP, was a compilation of these jams recorded when the band was still only 4 guys. After completing their first EP the group added two more members in order to perform the songs live. In less that a year the band sold over 1000 CD’s domestically as well as overseas with no other backing besides themselves. After becoming an official band and functioning as a 6 piece, the band realized through a series of random events that their best sound was as a 5 piece and the fans agreed.
Their music is rock but carefully planned thanks to their personal recording studio, which doubles as a commercial recording studio in order to fund their dream. Putting in 12 hour sessions is an everyday thing while working on their current CD, “Restless Nights“. Along with their arsenal of studio equipment and instruments, they also have a CD duplication machine which they use to insure that everyone leaves their shows with a sampler CD of their music. While the studio may serve as a headquarters for the group, the stage is where they truly feel at home. The general consensus amongst their fans is that the CD sounds great but the live sound is even better. Playing shows all around Florida as well as out of state, the band always leaves a lasting impression with the crowds. Performing several times in places outside a rock environment, such as a Spanish dance club named Rumbass, the band tends to rock just as hard and gain just as many fans as anywhere else they play.
With the completion of “Restless Nights” nearing an end, The Projects are more than ready to put just as much time into touring and promoting as they did into the recording process. The band has been planning a tour of Florida this summer in order to win over their home state, city by city. The Projects are an extremely hard working band and up to this point, they have managed to keep everything DIY. Booking shows, making merch, getting their songs on I Tunes and several other download sites, graphic design, recording, radio play and unique promotion including a decent size street team, are all things done on their own and they enjoy doing it. Songs from their future release are already being played on several college radio stations and was also in rotation at this years South Florida Sunfest with an attendance of 20,000 plus. The group is ready to take things to the next level and make the band their life, more than it is already.
