FloridaQuACk

Founded in the summer of 2003 by local Orlando artists Lani Brito, Crawford, Keith Theriot, and Joey Vega, FloridaQuACk (Queer Art Collective) was imagined as an organization to grow and foster Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and supportive artists from Central Florida in an attempt to lessen the social and cultural isolation under which GLBT artists work.Today, we are a diversified group comprised of artists of all orientations and media from throughout the region.We have a close working relationship with The Center, and we act as both curators and in-house artists for GLBCC.We are proud to boast that our members are recognized both locally and nationally for their work as artists, as well as their contributions to GLBT society.Our members are all talented artists, and include: successful photographers, accomplished painters, awarded designers, an initial inductee into the national AIDS Museum, a former director for The Center, former theme park designers, talented sculpturists, a former Watermark illustrator, a groundfloor member of The Office Gallery downtown, a retired arts educator, and the organizer behind the Canvas & Cocktails events in Thornton Park and Winter Park.Quack has recently joined the Metropolitan Business Association in keeping with our goal of expanding our participation and influence in Queer Orlando.We meet on the last Thursday of every month at The Center, 946 N Mills Ave., from 6pm-8pm for anyone that would like to drop by, see what we're about, and consider membership.
