Growing up, spending a lot of time at home was not in the plan, because his mother worked her ass off to take care of him and his brother so a lot of time was spent at his cousins’ house. This is where he met hip-hop.
He used to go through his cousins’ tapes and listen to classic albums like, Reasonable Doubt (Jay-Z), It Was Written (Nas), and Midnight Marauders - (Tribe called quest). He also listened to Notorious BIG too. In middle school, as he was coming into his own man, he picked up rapping because it came as a gift. Who knew it would turn into what he has been called now, “Hip-Hops Saviorâ€.
Everyone draws inspiration from somewhere. “J-Roc’s†drew from notable sources such as: Jay-Z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Pharrell and others. With a line of inspirations such as those, it’s no wonder why he is as good as he is today at a young age. When asked what type of music do you strive to create he can only answer, “I think of my music as real hip hop and that’s what my style isâ€.
After meeting Richard "Rated R" Taylor...back then "Lotto"...it gave me a chance to work with the realest n best producer I know...and he helped me get started...and im on the rise...
