About Me

Well, I am from Puyallup, and if you know anything about Puyallup, that just about sums me up. However, if you have lived your life this long and do not know of the great town of Puyallup (home of the Daffodil Parade, The Western Washington Fair, Meeker Days, and the best scone this side of the Atlantic) well, free up a weekend in September and come see what all the fun is about. I mean, Hillary Duff AND Wierd Al Yankovik even made it out last year, and they are probably really busy in September!

My Interests

Things I love: waking up really early in the morning, but realizing that I don't have to be up for like two more hours. Baking cupcakes. Walking through the airport people movers really fast, so it is like I am a superhuman walker! Fair taffy. The smell of jasmine when it starts to bloom in May. How blue the sky is after a really good rain. The good tired feeling after swimming all day. Wandering the farmers market on a Sunday morning when peaches are in season. My bed. The sunset from my kitchen window. Brie quesadillas. Watermelon. Swimming in the ocean in Hawaii. The smell of a new baby. Laughing so hard it hurts. Grocery stores. Riding a bike around the Warner Brothers lot, like Pee Wee Herman. Hiking to the top of a hill for the view. Stopping at a fruit stand in Eastern Washington and getting an apple that is still cold from the night before that has just come off a tree and you have to rub it to make is shiny, like the ones in the store. Jetskiis. Little kids being honest. Driving really fast with the music really loud and singing along at the top of my lungs. A super good sandwich. Old buildings with beautiful details. Making eye contact with a stranger and getting them to smile. Finishing a good book. Old pop bottles. Down comforters. Walking through Pasadena. Pat's blackberry cobbler. Streets lined with trees. Capture the flag in the woods. Exploring a new city.

I'd like to meet:

Maybe the guy who dressed up like a clam in the Ivar's commercials. I mean, he was a clam in tights!

Music:

Sufjan Stevens, Our Lady Peace, Sigur Ros, Monster Ballads (I love to clean my house to arena rock!) The Beatles, Iron and Wine, Blonde Redhead, The Postal Service, Death Cab, Sunny Day Real Estate, Modest Mouse, Foo Fighters, Pinback, Peter Gabriel, Joshua Radin, my sister when she sings makes up commercial jingles in the bathtub, Michael Buble, The Shins, Simon and Garfunkel, and the Paul when he split from Garfunkle, Air, Blur, The Beach Boys, Ben Folds Five, Kent, Snow Patrol, Jacob when he plays the guitar and harmonica for shabatt, Travis, Sarah McLachlan, The Zombies....oh and the list goes on.

Movies:

Roman Holiday (oh to ride through Rome on a scooter!) Elizabeth, Oscar and Lucinda, Singing in the Rain , Napoleon Dynamite, Wedding Crashers, Office Space, The Royal Tenanbaums, Rushmore, The Virgin Suicides, Oh man, there are so many other good ones...

Television:

Anything on the Food Network (However if I see another episode where Rachel Ray refers to her fiance to her sweetie, I'm gonna have to ban it) , Arrested Development (serious comedy!!! but start with the first season if you have never seen it) The Shield (I started watching because I worked on the show, but it is actually really good and crazy intense), Project Runway (seriously with the 50 year old who can't sew and her designs suck!! How has she lasted so long!) Grey's Anatomy (kind of makes me want to be a doctor with a fabulously dramatic life!) Martha Stewart Living (sure she is a convicted felon, but where else can you be inspired to make themed swizzle sticks for your lemonade!) Scrubs (I would fall of my bike just so I could end up in a hospital with folks like that!!)

Books:

I liked that one book...oh and that one was good too!

Heroes:

Jesus, the Doug and the Vic, Edith Head

Flight of the Conchords

Everyone should watch an episode of Flight of the Conchords.  It is pretty amazing!  They randomly break out into song, which is personally one of my favorite things to do.  If you don'...

Margot and the Nuclear So and So's

I listened to this CD all weekend long.  I seriously can't stop.  Buy Quiet as a Mouse on Itunes just for the cello part at the beginning.  It's a good one!
