Tema – is an alternative groove rock band. A mix of contemporary rock sounds mixed in with strong and funky rhythms. This Davao based band was dubbed by KAIBAN DAVAO, an independent music organization that helps local Mindanao artists on voicing out their original compositions, as an alternative rock band that will make you fall in love over and over again.
The band is currently recording and mixing their first debut EP at Kalye studios, following their demo release which was handed over for free to selected music promoters which receive a positive response. The EP release will feature 8 tracks of all original Tema music. They will continue on promoting their music under an independent label and move onwards with KAIBAN DAVAO’s Konsyertos events.
From sad experiences of their respective past bands, Tema start off as a quartet: Paul, Al and Donz were band mates from the band Red Eye, when their guitarist and bassist left them for personal reasons. They looked for descent players around the city, and found themselves hiring session player Josh(Donz’s past guitarist in Indigo Slam). From an unsuccessful convincing on getting him playing guitars permanently. Their next move was getting Rxy(Donz and Josh's old bassist). The quartet was receiving positive response on bars such as Alops Bar and Station 91. But Rxy’s vision as power quartet has limited him in doing something else, thus successfully convincing Josh on joining the band and added more funky rhythm and power solo lines. Tema is better that ever, now as a quintet. Guitar harmonies and power vocals add more texture to the bands last currents. Packed with Paul Berdos on Lead Vocals, Rxy (Rexie) Ruedas on Guitars and Keyboards, Josh Nerez on Lead and Rhythm Guitars, Al Poloyapoy on Bass, and Donz Solamo on the Drums and Percussions. Appeared twice live on-air at ABS-CBN Davao’s MAAYONG BUNTAG MINDANAO and received positive critical response. They were invited for a live on-air interview at one of Mindanao’s best radio stations, MOR 101.1 FM, and having an original single “Waiting†aired during Saturdays 6-7pm. The band continues on promoting their music through their live sets and distribution of their demo cds.
2007 is the year as Tema stepped up from it’s times of misfortune and finally letting the world hear their cries through their music. “…they will make you fall in love over and over again. – KAIBAN DAVAO â€, that’s the best way to explain the bands music.
