Darkontinent Entertainment or D.K.E.. is an independent music label hailing from its namesake of Africa (Cape Town, SA to be exact). Although only now emerging, Darkontinent has been in existence since the late nineties - if only as a young man's idle dream.
Since it's genesis in 2007 the label has gone through the motions, undergoing the strain of severe change and it has grown and matured. It’s goal's remain the same - to establish itself as a major player in African Music for decades to come by spanning its ambitions outward as well as in. We want our artists’ names on the lips of people from all over the world. We feel that Africa will stand benefit from this - not only us.
In short - we want to play our part in the African Renaissance
From our Image to our Artists, Darkontinent has adopted a collective policy that is strictly youth-orientated. The label founder and exec. producer, Kamiel Sadien is still in his early twenties. Our artist recruitment policy is strictly fresh, young, raw and untapped. The artists are all precociously talented.
Despite it's name, Darkontinent cites international producers like Lil Jon, Sean Combs, Scott Storch and Timbaland as influences. It models itself on the standards set by the Def Jams and Bad Boy Entertainments of this world and by those high standards, seeks to create music that is revolutionary while at the same time accessible to just about anybody in our endless demographic. We want to take Darkontinent to the clubs, the streets and the playgrounds. We want African music to colonise the world - show the planet just how good it can get.
We are Africa's Musical Renaissance...
