Well, I would like start by introducing myself. I’m a 23 year old male and my God giving name is Christopher Hawkins, but my artist name is BeBe the R&B Prince. I’m a Neo-soul/R&B/Rap artist with a sound that is unbelievably strong and passionate. I grew up in Hinds county on Main St. in Shady Oaks. I’m the youngest of three boys with dreams of becoming one of the hottest artist/songwriter. This dream has been a long road of endurances and heartache.
I started singing when was 7. I can remember like it was yesterday, it was at Bradley Elementary School where I first wanted to sing. Then from there I join the choir. It was then I knew what I wanted to be when I grow-up. At the time, R. Kelly’s I Believe I Can Fly had came out. I sung that song from sun up to sun down.
I gave my dream up after my Grandmother died, but a few years later I was told several time not to let my talent go to waste. I was still just ignoring it till one my brothers (whom had dreams of becoming a Rapper) wanted me to sing on a track. I was kind of shy and said “no†at first, then I thought this could be my change. I started working on a course. I had the course in bout two days; and have it all started. Then I wrote courses after course. It’s wasn’t in till later I wrote my the course( I’ma Real Thug) that landed me in a group that called themselves The Triple M Gang.
The Major Money Movement Click was a great opportunity to get my voice heard, so I wrote as much as I could. We went on to open for artist such as T-Pain, Rick Ross, Plies, Three Deep, Boosie, and many more. I was surrounded by talent, but the only person who was always ready to perform. I felt through out my career as a singer I was always in the background. I even was denied verses on songs that I wrote. So I started to write solo songs with hope that I would have my chance as a solo artist.
I’ve become a solo artist with high hope that I would make it big in the Music Industry. I’m now working ..ing my 1st solo album. I put out one of the hottest singles (Why You Wanna Leave) in Jackson, Ms, but with little promotion. Though I don’t have as many shows most solo artist I feel better that I know its all on me.
