About Me

Please see the FAQ for info on my gear and other questions you may have.

Music:

I play the Warr touch guitar and the Talker. I'm the Warr guitarist for Edifice ( Web ) ( MySpace ) and the mind behind They Rise ( MySpace ).

Formerly a guitarist, I switched to bass full-time in my early 20s. My instructor said I have perfect hands for the guitar, but bass was more to my liking. A bassist trapped in a guitarist's body. I then looked into techniques used by a few virtuoso bassists and polyphonic tapping really caught my eye. I began to play the bass using exclusively the polyphonic tapping technique in 2006. This technique allows for playing which would prove difficult or impossible with traditional techniques, as both hands sound notes on the fretboard, simultaneously.

Still having the guitar itch in me, I had a 12-string tapping instrument built, called a Warr guitar. The model I selected marries a traditional 6-string bass and a 6-string guitar. It is divided into bass and guitar regions, so both hands can play independent parts on one fretboard. It has dual outputs, which allow for independent processing of each region. It is tuned like a 6-string bass (low B to high C - fourths) and has a 34" scale length. The guitar region is tuned one octave higher, which allows for easy mirrored playing.

Video & Audio Clips:

Failure: "Another Space Song" (one of the most underrated bands of the 90s).

One of the first questions I ask when meeting someone is, "What do you create or contribute to the world?" It's not an airy, unthoughtful question; it isn't something you'd typically be asked in a job...

Agnosticism

This is sort of a rant against MySpace's 'Religion' selections, specifically the 'Agnostic' option. The word is commonly misused; it is not a doctrinal term, allowing a "third option" to atheism and t...
