U.X.A.

About Me

The bands no longer. This is only a tribute to the band.
U.X.A. featuring lead singer De De Troit (Denise Semiroux) is one of San Francisco (later relocating to L.A.) finest bands. U.X.A was one of the uprising bands that came out of San Francisco along with groups like The Avengers and The Nuns.
U.X.A. put out some excellent old-school punk back in the late '70s and early '80s, with band members such as Ritchie O'Connell, Billy Southard, Linwood Land, Patrick O'Sullivan and many more.... U.X.A came out with great sounds and songs from the album Illusions of Grandeur, which up until recently was a rare find on vinyl. In this album features, among ten classic UXA hits, a final cataclysmic a capella version of "death from above" Dee Dee's Moving memorial mass to UXA's Mentor Michael "killer"Kowalski who died.
After U.X.A. disbanded in the early eighties, De De formed the De De Troit Band, and later still De De Troit and the Cotton Ponys. More recently, she reformed U.X.A. with Dasher of the Dickies and drummer Suzi Homewrecker. Their first release in 15 years was "United X Mass of America", a Christmas single on red vinyl featuring a punk Silver Bells b/w No More Fascism!
Their first LP, Illusions of Grandeur, was re-released on CD in May of 2004 by the Get Back (Italy) label: "Another little gem rescued by our punk rock task force from the oblivion, U.X.A (acronym for United Experiments Of America) were an essential part of the Posh Boy West Coast punk revolutionary army. Led by the interesting and uncommon vocals of De De Troit, U.X.A. contributed to establishing female vocal punk bands (Avengers, X) in the genre and also gave the typical pop punk sound a chance to expand the visual of new rock. This reissue features the original 10-track pre-release edition of the album as it was originally conceived."
