He has been working in the genre for over 10 years and has a special understanding of all aspects of Jamaican music, from musicial techniques, recording techniques, and most importantly, mixing techniques. Most of the tracks he produces feature 100% live instrumentation played by Richie himself, sometimes with guests such as Angus 'ElGusto' Stuart (Hermitude) on drums, or Ras Roni (THE veteran reggae singer in Sydney) on vocals to name a couple. So... the tracks are recorded layer by layer from start to finish (no punch-ins) starting with the drums, then bass, keys, guitars, percussion, all the way through to real horns, then mixed on a desk, King Tubby Style. Papa Richie's other projects include: Field Trip - Soul/Reggae/Electro, Katoomba Dub Collective - Straight Up live Reggae band. Papa Richie also works at The Gearin Hotel, Katoomba, as production manager & live sound engineer, used to do sound/DJ at legendary Katoomba venue, Triselies.
