The first sign of the teenage alternative rock band Contrition was in the spring of 2007 when Dave Culhane showed his friend Brad Wilson a song he wrote called “The Truth". They worked on the song together and eventually the two at the time fourteen-year-olds decided to start a band. Aidan Petit and Owen Korzec, who were good friends of Dave and Brad, joined not too long afterwards. The original lineup was Dave on vocals, rhythm guitar and keyboards, Brad on lead guitar, Aidan on bass, and Owen on the drums. They wrote, rehearsed and performed many songs over the summer of ’07 around the Boston area. Around November, Kat Raymond was added on lead vocals to fortify the lineup. After undergoing numerous name changes, they decided in January of 2008 that Contrition was going to be their name, and it has been ever since. In late January, the band hit the studio to record their debut EP, titled “Fallen Apart.†Aidan left the band in March 2008. They replaced him with Ray McKenzie soon after. Kat and Contrition also went separate ways in the Spring of '08. They have decided to go with a male lead vocal in John. However the songs up here on myspace feature Kat's voice and not John's. They plan on recording new demos with John in the near future. They are also currently writing new material and looking for shows to play. This should be a big summer for Contrition.
