About Me

GREEN PIRATE
Green Pirate LLC is a liberating lifestyle, green-model based company from Brooklyn New York, which was formed in the Fall of 2006. We aim to stimulate a hip and sexy culture of conscious healthy living by creating an environment where healthy food choices and health education are easily accessible, affordable, taste delicious and are delivered with LOVE and great music!
In Summer 2007 Green Pirate launches its state-of-the-art Community Juice Truck, an inaugural effort to bring the company’s mission to street level in Brooklyn neighborhoods by providing healthy and nutritious refreshment options to our community.
JUICE TRUCK
At the truck you can pick up a glass of your favorite vegetable juice combining basic ingredients such as carrots, cucumbers, celery, beets, ginger, garlic, and apples. The menu varies depending on what’s fresh, so you can expect to find newly created drinks throughout the summer. The juice truck also serves various other cool and tasty treats such as herbal iced teas and freshly squeezed lemonade.
GREEN
The truck itself runs on biodiesel fuel, which Green Pirate receives in partnership with TRI-STATE BIODIESEL, a leader in New York’s renewable fuel sources.
All organic waste matter from the production of juice is transported to the McCarren Green Dome where local resident Kate Z, composts the material and creates nutrient-rich soil for the gardens.
WHY?
Co-owners and juice-lovin’ musicians and artists, Leesaw Andaloro and Deborah Smith, are graduates of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the country's premiere academy for integrated holistic health and nutrition studies. Andaloro and Smith are focused on improving the quality of life and health for themselves and their community. Providing delicious and healthy fresh juice, as well as other drinks that won’t load you up with sugar, to the patrons of McCarren Park and McCaren Pool was the logical response to the need they saw for healthy food options.
The two women intend to provide useful tidbits of information about topics related to health and nutrition at their truck this summer.

FROM THE PIRATES
We decided to launch this business at “street level”, with a truck that’s out there on the streets for people to see and be curious about, because people’s health is too important to sit back waiting for them to make the first move.
There is a health crisis in the USA. Highly chemicalized food, additives, sugars and other toxins are a regular part of peoples diets. The statistics about people dying from the same three diseases over and again are startling. But for people to change their diets or make healthier choices, they need to have the options. We are starting to see small changes in the health –food movement in the country but its not enough. Americans deserve fresh whole foods.
There are a lot of young people in our community, who attend Automotive High School or who were born and raised in this hood. We are interested in planting the seeds of health and nutrition with them at a young age. We believe in teaching self-love and self-care, two things that our young people desperately need. We see youth as our future leaders and we want to support them in making healthy choices. So being out there on the street with some credibility makes us more acceptable to them as well, and easier to access.
The value of treating your body like it is your temple cannot be measured.
Fresh fruit and vegetable juices not only taste delicious and rich, but provide that temple with a solid foundation of nutrition, including a spectrum of vitamins, minerals and healthy carbohydrates.
