About Me
Born in Brazil, Carla Maffioletti shares both Italian and Brazilian nationalities. She began her singing career under the guidance of the Brazilian soprano Neyde Thomas and Classical Guitar at UFRGS University in her homeland. At the age of 15 Carla was already touring throughout Brazil and South America with the pioneering guitar ensemble Camerata Consort during a period of 7 years. From 1998 to 2000 she studied Opera and Lied repertoire at the Maastricht Conservatorium, the Netherlands, where she lives ever since.For the past 4 years she’s engaged as a soloist by the violinist ANDRÉ RIEU and his orchestra and has been singing all over the world roles like Olympia (les contes d’Hofmann), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Sylvia (Czardas Fürstin), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel) and others. With Mr. Rieu, she recorded CDs and DVDs that are often broadcasted by major TV channels in many countries.
Her operatic performances include roles such as Olympia (Les Contes d’Hoffman), Queen of the Night and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Rossignol and Le Feu L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), Frasquita (Carmen), Angelique (Angelique), Inah (A Boiúna), singing under the direction of the conductors Ed Spanjaard, Jan Stulen, Enrico Delamboye, Emmanuël Pleijers, Tulio Bellardi, Antônio C. B. Cunha, Ion Bressan and Marcelo Viotti.
During the summer of 2000 she joined the selected singers for the concert during Münchner Singschule Festival accompanied by the Bayrishes Staatsorchester, and was acclaimed by the critics for her performance of Olympa’s aria (J. Offenbach), coached by the renowned coloratura soprano Reri Grist.Carla Maffioletti’s high vocal tessitura reaches an extreme C4 and she's inspired by works of great coloratura sopranos such as Ingeborg Hallstein, Mado Robin and Erna Sack .In Brazil, Carla Maffioletti recorded 3 important Cds, Erudito I, Tudo Muda with songs of Flávio Oliveira and the first recording of the opera A Boiúna by Walter Schultz Portoalegre.In addition to her musical activities, she had act on theater plays and musicals, amongst them are Medea (award for best original soundtrack by Carla Maffioletti and PatrÃcia Heckteuer), Sentimental Journey (award for best musical) and Jacobina – Uma balada para o Cristo Mulher (award for best musical).
