Laura has recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a 2:1. Her principal study instrument is flute/piccolo and alto flute, with whom she studied with, Laura Jellicoe and Joanne Boddington. Laura studied musicianship and improvisation with bassist, Steve Berry and pianist Eileen Guppy whom she was also lucky enough to perform with in her final recital at the RNCM in June 2007. Laura also studies jazz flute with her father, Munch Manship. Since 2005 Laura has been having subsidiary vocal lessons with Thomas Schultze at the RNCM. In 2004, Laura won a place in the prestigious Halle choir, with whom she sang with for several years.At the Royal Northern College of Music, Laura performed with RNCM opera orchestra, RNCM symphony orchestra, RNCM chamber orchestra, RNCM wind orchestra and several smaller ensembles. At the RNCM, Laura also was an active member of several wind ensembles (5tets / 4tets) and jazz quartets, of which she still performs with on a regular basis. In February, 2006 Laura made her debut performance with the RNCM BigBand as a featured vocalist, working with composer/sampler, Matthew Herbert. Since then she has appeared in several concerts with the RNCM BigBand and also the RNCM jazz collective group, under the direction of saxophonist, Mike Hall. In December 2007, Laura was lucky enough to perform in a masterclass with Jazz vocalist, Tina May.Laura teaches flute, piano, clarinet, saxophone and voice privately.Since leaving the RNCM, Laura freelances regularly with several orchestras such as; The National Concert Orchestra, Liverpool Sinfonia, The Borders Sinfonia and has performed several times with The English Symphony Orchestra.
