Manx Voices (formally Manx Girls Choir) was formed over 50 years ago by Harry Pickard, and the choir has undergone many changes since its inception many years ago, not least its change of name!
The choir is SSA, (soprano, mezzo-soprano and alto) and has a membership base of around 40 members under the watchful eye of newly appointed Musical Director, Angela Stewart, who took over the baton from Alan Pickard.
The choir has undertaken many foreign tours to locations such as Saltzburg, Germany and Italy and has built up many friendships over the years with the various choirs it has come into contact with along the way.
Their repertoire is varied, ranging from early music written by John Dowland all the way up to modern classics such as Lean on Me and songs from the musicals.
They rehearse every other Tuesday at the Manx Music Centre on Lord Street, Douglas from 7.30pm till 9pm as a full choir, and every other week is taken up with sectional rehearsals. New members are always welcome!
