Yantra is a duo consisting of Jan Przemyslaw Ozarowski (midi, el.guitar, mandolin) and Daniel Zalewski (vocal) who both are fascinated with as well acoustic, real instruments and sounds as the possibilities that contemporary processing techniques brings to the musician.
Their music is often combining natural sound recorded live from the environment, more or less processed and sometimes looped and guitar and vocal sounds evolving in ambient textures and drones.
Jan is influenced by looping guitarists Robert Fripp and David Torn (who isn’t?), ambient artists like Brian Eno, Steve Roach and those alike and minimal contemporary composers like Steve Reich and Philip Glass. Daniel’s vocal inspirations embraces artists like Bobby Mcferrin, Lisa Gerrard, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and styles like jazz, ethno as well as traditional singing; from medieval chants and choirs, through jojk, quawwali, indian ragas to buddhist mantras. He possess a large vocal range and is striving to use his voice also as an instrument, like acapella singers do.
