Galtagaldr

Galtagaldr is a swedish band that plays medieval and traditional celtic music. The name Galtagaldr means 'the boar's incantation'. Our approach to the medieval music can be described as somewhat 'rustic''. We strive to mediate the sounds and atmospheres of medieval feasts, fairs and carnivals. As you might have gathered we put less emphasis on the sacral and solemn aspects of medieval music...We perform at historical fairs, tournaments and festivals as well as private parties or conferances. So far we've given over 350 concerts, mostly within Sweden but some abroad as well. Our collection of medieval instruments includes a multitude of bagpipes, shawns, bombardes, flutes, percussion, fiddles, key-fiddles, hurdy-gurdys, dulcimers etc. If you're curious to hear what we sound like you can listen to some soundsamples here on MySpace. / Enjoy!
