About Me

The Speedsters are a 6-peice 50's Rock'n'Roll band that have cemented their name and reputation around Melbourne and Australia for 17 year's the band was originally formed by Cee Jay Jones and Monty in 1980 and have played around 50's Rock'n'Roll venues in Melbourne and country Victoria since their humble beginnings. The band is well known for their slick harmonies, vocal ability and a real solid 50's sound. In 2000 a keyboard player was added to the 4peice line-up to enhance their al-ready punchy sound. Warren Hall was invited to fulfil the task and the band moved to a new musical level. In 2002 the Band had a further line up change when both the long term bass player and their drummer decided to retire from the Rock'n'Roll scene. Frankie Brent from the well known and respected Fendermen joined the band as Bass player as well as sharing lead vocals with Clive and Monty. Frankie has a very unique vocal range along with a very solid bass playing style, that superbly compliments the other addition to the band at that time, Drummer Frank(boomboom) D'Abaco. Frank is also a solid player who has played various styles of music over the years, from Aus rock in the 80s and then Country/Rock. In 2004 whilst recording their highly acclaimed 'Rocket to the Moon' CD Sax player Mark (1Take) Franklin was also asked to join the band. Mark is a very accomplished professional musician who has played all styles of music and toured all over the world with many great name artists, Mark also is a secondary college music teacher. In 2005 our much loved Keyboard player Warren Hall took Ill and had to leave the band. He was eventually replaced by the very well known and brilliant Ray Quon. Ray enjoyed great success as part of a Melbourne institution, the legendary show band The Blue Echoes and has also toured extensively sharing the stage and bill with many leading names in the Rock'N'Roll industry. Ray's humor, professionalism and passion for his music has earned him the respect of many. This current Line up of the SPEEDSTERS is the most-lively, colourful, and dedicated line up ever in their 17 year history. The band has an extensive repertoire of 50's & 60's Rock'n'Roll, Country Rock, Swing and Rockabilly and vocal harmonies are a distinct feature of their dynamic and unique sound. They're renowned for their professional approach to their music and have always focused on "Entertaining" their audiences. The band plays a diverse mix of great dance material has delighted Rock'N'Roll audiences for over a decade. If you want your next Function, Festival, Dance or Venue to really ROCK!!
