About Me

..I'm a Kiwi (New Zealander) living in Taichung, Taiwan. Why Taiwan? it came to me in a flash... like the big Monty Python foot plunging from the sky, bang, "now for something completely different". Before it was 9-5 public service... but still zany, ol me...Now it's crazy Taiwan. Teaching children English and only 24 hours work a week.I'm hoping to travel around Asia and do life before going to England. I'm keen to meet new net friends or real live people. If you're planning to travel to Taiwan, for some strange reason, or you’re hear already get in touch.

My Interests

I like to talk complete and utter bollocks if the mood strikes. Gossip, scandal, muck raking bring it. I'm left leaning... bla bla bla politics. I enjoy a good conversation about New Zealand or world politics or economics. I'm intersted in the Taiwan/China situation and would like to know more... I know a bit but I'm always keen to know what others think.I like birds, in the wild, particularly native birds. Love parrots like the Kaka, the Kea and the Kakapo.I like bargin hunting and window shopping.... I'm trying to save money. It is so hard!

I'd like to meet:

People who make me laugh, smile and stimulate me.

Music:

Let's not go there. Okay, well maybe. I'm a fan of ol' school hip hop, peral jam, rage against the machine, smashing pumpkins.... um I like anything with a funky beat or with an angry female singer.

Movies:

I like films, I've recently enjoyed (films are limited in Taiwan, mainly showing big budget blockbusters): The Last King of Scotland, Letters From Iwa Jima, Babel, Who Killed the Electric Car, Running with Sisors, Volver...

Television:

Try to avoid TV. Become addicted to easily. Enjoy the news and documentrys.... they only have CNN in Taiwan :(

Books:

Anything that's a true story, autobiography, biography or anything written in a journalistic manner. Think Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood".... maybe with the author less emotionally involved than Capote.

I'm in Taipei. It's a big city.   It is so cold (especially compared to Singapore). I'm in bed with a duvet and have a woolen jersey on too. It hasn't stopped raining since I got here.   T...
