V.O.G (Voice Of de Ghetto)

For far too long the people of the so called “Ghetto” have been denied certain opportunities, from educational establishments, to positive social recognition and respect. They have been frowned upon with stereo typical statements, gestures and expectations. Due to the severity of these conditions and lack of resources, the residents of the “ghetto” seem to have lost hope and have no trust or interests in the attainment of a good education. They have also lost the ability to appreciate the rewards of hard work. Our primary objective is survival for today. We need a change, a new hope, a voice broadcasting our pains and concerns for the world to know. Hence the birth of VOG! V.O.G - “The voice of the Ghetto”. According to, legally certified documents, a ghetto is defined as - a section of a city, esp. a thickly populated slum area, inhabited predominantly by members of an ethnic or other minority group, often as a result of social or economic restrictions, pressures, or hardships and discrimination.- (taken from American Heritage Dictionary).VOG plans to attack the community as a whole, with hope of helping the people of the ghetto to play a more responsible role in their lives and future. And to ask the people with the responsibility of decision-making and delegation of the distribution of community resources, to take a second look at those really making an effort and be just as open to the people from the ghetto as they are to those in high social status. These problems are not limited to any one race in particular, as so we intend on taking our drive…worldwide. We intend on working with other groups with the same or similar visions in sight, to address this issue worldwide!VOG has a core of three members but travel most times with, at the least, a ten piece band. A very diverse group having members with roots from different race, culture, creed and ethnicity, from all over the world. Yet we all share the same dream and a profound sense of purpose. Our musicians are very skilled, talented and professional at their tasks and responsibilities in the band. With a blend of carefully selected covers and many original songs, we intend on spreading music to sooth the soul and feed the heart, singing for peace, humility and hope for a better tomorrow. We hope to touch the “ghetto” in every one- the place deep within that stores and carries all the pains of the past and concerns of the future. Yes, there’s a ghetto in all of us. So as we come to town, whatever the event maybe, our goal is to pass on a message and have you look at the same things you see everyday in a completely different way. We will be leaving a message of love, peace and happiness, one to never be forgotten. ..
