I believe that happiness is taking what we are given in life and making the most of it. Of course there are things that I don't like about myself and things that I wish I could change. And there are also so many things that I love and admire about myself. There are some people who will meet me and will only see the negative and then there are those people like my good friends and my family who will see all the good in me and will love me for who I am. It's these people who give me strength and make me want to be a better person. Sometimes in life I find myself dwelling on the negative things that I wish I could change and then I feel sorry for myself. But one thing is certain, I always manage to snap myself out of it, whether it be after a day, a week, or sometimes even after a few months. Life is too short to waste it away feeling sorry for yourself.
When I get depressed, I try to do things that will make me appreciate being alive. I love getting away from the city for the day and going hiking because I absolutely love being in nature and I also get to do something good for my body. I like trying new hobbies and playing new sports. Last year, I started taking beach volleyball lessons and have now competed in two tournaments down in Estero Beach, Mexico.
I love meeting new people, I'm especially attracted to people who are eccentric. One of my best friends is a 45 year old guy with 5 cats!
I have a deep appreciation of the many different artistic ways that people can express themselves. I especially love the opera. A good aria can literally bring tears to my eyes.
At times I think it's fun to go out clubbing with friends and get wasted and act completely goofy. (Although as I get older, the hangovers and the recovery time become less appealing to me).
I love traveling and have already been to many countries:
North and Central America: United States, Mexico, Costa Rica
South America: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay
Europe: Belgium, England, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland
Africa: Morocco
Asia: Thailand
My next trip will hopefully be this December and I think we're going to do a road trip up the coast of California. I want to see Morro Bay, the Hearst Castle, and most importantly, Ano Nuevo, which is where the elephant seals are!
Two places where I have already been but definitely want to go back: Hawaii and Costa Rica. Both are so beautiful... but I think I'll wait 'til I have a boyfriend before I do a return visit...
Being able to experience new cultures and to see and appreciate how other people live is an AWESOME experience.
I love food! I love eating just about everything Ethiopian, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Persian, Turkish, Moroccan food! I've tried many different cuisines but there is still a lot I would like to taste!! My taste buds yearn for new spices and new flavors.
