Life is like a grindstone - whether it grinds you down or polishes you up depends on what you're mad

About Me

DONE WITH MY FIRST YEAR OF SCHOOL IN NEW YORK...:) I have many more to go..;) this semester I had gone part-time: A- in genetics, and a B in Pre-Calculus....not too bad for doing everything on my own...lol...wish I had someone taking care of me at times, so my focus could go solely towards school, but Im too independent to allow someone to do so...I am finally on my road to success with school and can honestly answer myself on why I moved to New York, of all places..:) besides that, Im just your average girl....well I take that back, Im not average, and now approaching a young woman, no more girl...my move is proof of that ;)...Take care, and always remember to reach for "your" stars..whatever those stars may be...keep reachin'

My Interests

I like to do a wide range of things...I wont limit myself. But main ones are arts-theathre(not the movies-I can buy a bootleg-wink)/culture, dancing, traveling, and dining. I would love to start bowling again...as well and dance..not only in club, but Bomba...

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet true people in general that hold some of the same intrests that I do, but If I had the opportunity to meet anyone I wanted to...hmmm...thats a hard question, so many people I would love to meet...GOD...one day..:) from the past..Langston Hughes..excellent poet...but as far as someone here and now...hmmm....If I have any other brothers and sisters out there on my fathers side that I havent had the opportunity to meet...My father was in the Navy, so that leaves a wide range as to where he could have dropped a seed...:) and all family I have never had the opportunity to meet....my kin folk..;) Big family on both sides....spread all over the place....

Music:

I mainly listen to R&B..Jazz..yes Jazz..;) and Soul....I love to dance to: Hip-hop, Salsa, Merengue, Bomba, cha cha, bachata...anything that has a nice rythm to it....anyone know of a good place in the City that does live Jazz...let me know!!

Movies:

Too many to list, so Ill say the genres of movies that I like to watch: Comedy, Horror, & Drama(Thrillers)..those are the main ones, although Im pretty easy going..I like international films as well, the film festival ones are really the best right now...the big name producers are really not putting anything out with any quality...the international film festival producers, are going to be the new era of producers...Watch out now...;)

Television:

I dont watch it, for a female..usually they would list some type of soap opera, but not me when I am around somewhere, my soap opera is LAW AND ORDER on TNT...:) as well as Court TV, the forensic files...and Trauma(real life ER)..of coure that is if I am around to catch those shows...I have no cable in my room...so I mainly throw in DVD's...

Books:

I have been doing a lot of reading for school lately from short stories, to plays...Most recent reads include: Candide by Voltaire. selections from Doetvsky and Marxx...feel everyone shouls read Candide...even if you dont like to read...Its a short book...very well written...The best book Ice read on Sattire thus far....

Heroes:

I would have to say my heroes are the ones out there that dont give up...Regardless if it is taking care of their family, to taking care of their community...To list a few heroes that I give thanks....First and formost God-The only one I can truly put all my burden on, and know that it will be alright. My Mother-for teaching me between right and wrong, although I may not have always agreed with her teaching methods...(smile) and just for never giving up on me, and always telling me to follow my dreams...and reach for the stars...Michele Hamilton(Best Friends Mother)-for the help, that strong figure that I saw growing up..It really takes a village to raise a child...this is why she is my heroe..Dominique(my sister)- lol..we may not always agree with eachother, but we have that sisterly love for eachother. As little as she is, I now view her as one of the strongest people I know...been through a lot and still hung in there...she may say that she looks up to me for my personallity, but in truth I look up to her for her drive to succeed...she doesnt just give up..;) I LOVE YOU GIRL, and miss you!!!Martin Luther King Jr.- of course the world would not be at the point it is without this man.and last but not least....ALL MY FRIENDS OUT THERE WHO HELP ME UP, BUT NOT DOWN...AND EVEN WHEN I AM DOWN, THEY ARE THERE BY MY SIDE THROUGH THICK AND THIN...(Samantha and Shera-I will forever love you guys no matter where our paths may lead us)
