JSeger is the Rolling Stoner, the Sick Duck, a Marylander who began his musical odyssey in Richmond, VA, now continues in Brooklyn, NY. The music is wholly original while the man maintains a respect and reverence for possibility, tradition, and integrity. A writer, a player, and a singer; all genuinely being cool.
The first J Seger record was recorded in Richmond, VA over the last half of 2007, released in early '08. It was hand crafted and released independently to admiration. The recording was done in a rehearsal space in the South Side of Richmond with friends, though largely a solo effort. It blends folk and blues balladry with a unique voicing and slow groove. It's especially enjoyable for those magic carpet rides, headphoned in front of the stereo or drifting in wild imagination as you cruise.
The Emily Easterly / J Seger Split Single 45 was recorded in June of 2008 at Galuminumfoil Studios in Brooklyn. "Please, Please Say Goodnight" and "City Love is Strange" are the two tracks, each written respectively and in good times. The single is the first in a hopeful series of 7 inches. The music shows a fun direction and a full band for Emily on Side A and a glimpse into the upcoming J Seger Record number II on Side B.
"With His Hat On" was recorded in Brooklyn, NY at the end of 2008. The album features a noticeable progression in the JSeger sound with healthy contributions from top New York City musicians. The music pushes the waltzing American sound of JSeger a step further with wise songwriting, flattering production, and weirdness to ponder. The record package is coupled with a limited run of booklets; a brilliant visual companion piece of graphic images inspired by the album."
